If you're a geek like me you'll love this. Not too much detail so it would be better for non scientists but it was interesting to see how the Icelandic people have dealt with their energy issues.

Came here as a visit with my boyfriend whom we both find this sort of thing interesting. We wern't dissapointed! The weather was in our favour as it was snowy and there wasn't anyone else here which provided us with a personal tour guide of the floors, we found it great how they have viewing platforms overlooking the generators and machinary not to mention the staff were very friendly and informative.

First stop on a tour. Very well organised, exhibition, shop, toilets and coffee shop. Very interesting place to go and just outside Reykjavik.

I would have liked to have spent more time here. Was a brief stop on the Golden Circle tour and had a brief but fascinating insight in Iceland's power and heating systems. A quick look in the engine room and a 20 minute fly round the exhibition was not enough. The fact the plant runs from a volcano makes it incredibly interesting. Well worth a visit and somewhere I would like to return to.

Paid 600kr to watch a video and wander around a room. Not worth it at all, no tour no nothing. Better off spending that money on a mug of hot chocolate to keep warm.

The visit to the Geothermal Energy Exhibition was brilliant - very informative talks, videos and very helpful staff. Its amazing to think the whole plant works on 15 staff per shift and supplies around 98% of Iceland with hot water - it explains why its nice and toasty everywhere you go - each house hold only spends about £60 per month on it! There is a little café and shop here also. Well worth a visit.

Stopped in on our way to Reykjavik and learned a lot about geothermal energy and how they harness it for electricity and hot water here. The exhibit and information was engaging and detailed. It was also cool to see the turbines and other parts of the plant that were visible. Can't remember how much it was to get in, but not expensive at all.

My husband is a chemist so I suggested this tour as I thought he would find this tour particularly interesting, but both our 18-year old daughter and I were really glad we went. It is fascinating to understand how they extract and ultimately recycle the energy from the volcanic core beneath Iceland. The tour is highly interactive, with actual recordings from previous earthquakes and places for you to create your own seismic shock. You get an excellent view of the turbines and overview of the whole process. The architecture of the visitor's center is stunning with spectacular views towards Reykjavik through the mainly glass exterior. I highly recommend this if you are driving by on Route 1.

We stopped here as part of our Golden Circle Classic tour (through guesthouse Sunna and Grey Line/Iceland Excursions). There was a small extra fee to go up to the 2nd and 3rd floors at the power plant and see the exhibition, but it was so comprehensive it was worth it! They do a great job explaining where the energy comes from and how it's used and I think everyone interested in science, renewable energy, volcanoes, etc. will love it!

Everyone liked this tour. It was a little hard to find even with GPS. There is a small charge to get into the building for a very informative tour. This gives some interesting information on how Iceland uses their geothermal resources to generate power and use the hot water to supply heating and hot water to the community.I can't imagine why California is not doing this but there may be a reason. There is also a small cafe in the building.
