We visited Icelandic Horseworld in Feb 2015 and were pleased to find somewhere that we could go to see the horses up close but didn't have to ride them, although we would love to in the summer, but the thick snow and cold temperatures weren't inviting! We arranged via email to visit as being winter they needed to know by appointment and on arrival were warmly welcomed by Katrin! We saw one of the Icelandic Horses being ridden in the ring and were shown the various gaits, and tolt that make these horses unique! We then got shown several of the horses up close and personal and learnt many interesting facts about them. We then got to spend time walking around the stables, petting the horses and taking pictures. This was a really lovely few hours spent for horse lovers. Included in the price was a hot drink and snack in the cafe which was nice to warm us up! The horses were fantastic and seemed so happy and well looked after! It is clear that Katrin and her family take extremely good care of the horses, and have a lot of experience and knowledge. This was very good value for money and both educational and fun!! A must do trip for any Horse Lover!

My husband and I are avid horse riders…….one of the important parts of our trip to Iceland in July was toexperience riding the Icelandic horses. Luckily, I was given the the name of Icelandic Horseword Skeiovellir by some friends whoare like ourselves riders…….and had visited Iceland recently. What a wonderful experience……..! We rode for over three hours…..it was raining and chilly for the first half of theride….but then it cleared up. We rode through beautiful country with Siggy…..a friend of the owners who spendssome time there but lives in The Netherlands. The horses were magnificent, well groomed and tacked and did theirjob beautifully…..i.e. the exquisite “tolt” which is a gait special to Icelandic horses. Like you are floating on air….!At the end of our ride David picked us up and loaded the horses onto the trailer so that we would not have toride back on a route that had already rode uponWhen we first arrived we were greeted by Katrin and David, the owners…who tacked us up with the proper raincoats, etc.to deal with the coming rain. after our wonderful ride we came backfor a wonderful lunch in their cafe. A beautiful lamb luncheon with champagne…..it was such a lovely experience with thewhole family. What a class act…!We did ride at another place close by several days later but the experience was not as good. No comparison. The horses were not wellgroomed…….the tack was not in good shape……and our guide immediately informed us that the there were issueswith our two horses. Mine……was “stressed"…which was okay as I am an experienced rider…..My husband’s horse….we were told had difficulty with “tolting” which is the reason one rides these horses…. forthe smooth gait…….The ride was okay……and our guide who was from France was great…….However…..for $450 dollars ……maybe the lunch could have been a bit more than an apple, juice box, candy bar !If you love beautiful, well trained horses, and a feeling like floating on air.....as well as the beautiful countryside and warm hospitality.....this is it!

We are a family of 5 (three kids 15,12 and 10) who wanted to learn more about Icelandic horses. We all were really well looked after by 16 year old Siggi, who was very informative and great company - you are welcome to visit us if you ever make it to Liverpool Siggi! We met and patted the beautiful horses and farm dog; played with big and small cats, visited the latest foal, ate some wonderful carrot cake in the cafe, bought a very special jumper and all three children rode a horse. We learnt lots with humour and it was excellent values for money. Highly recommended

This was an unexpected and great experience. We had actually booked an hour ride with a different outfit, but we could not find the place. Stopping in a gas station we say a flier for Icelandic Horse World and decided to give it a try. Immediately upon entering we were helped by one of the sons of the family that owns the place. He was very helpful and very informative. My daughter was able to ride an Icelandic pony and we were able to meet two foals that were born a couple of weeks prior. At 800KR for adults and children free with accompanying adults, the price was well worth it. I would definitely recommend this place and would visit again if I ever find myself back in Iceland.

Went there with my family along with several other families. And this is hands down by far the most attractive place we have visited in a long time. After paying very moderate entrance fee the kids were allowed to pet the newly born foals, then they went for a horseback ride and scavenger hunting. Meanwhile the adults enjoyed relaxing in the really nice Stable coffee house.

Fantastic experience being able to get up close with gorgeous friendly Icelandic Ponies. Relaxing hour or two with friendly and professional hosts who are enthusiastic in sharing the world of showing and breeding the horses in Iceland. Excellent for riders or those who are just interested. Coffee and cake are great too :-) only 8km off Route 1 on good road, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

This is a family owned horse ranch and the same family has owned it for generations. The visit is well worth it to learn about the horses and how they are trained. The staff was really friendly and I would recommend this to anyone even if you are not a big fan of horses. There is a coffee shop and a souvenir shop inside too.
