(Iceland trip May 2014) Take the time to do this hike, it's not very long and you will have a very good view of the icelandic forest. if you want to have a very good view of the park, you can continue the hike. After our hike we enjoy to take a very good soup at the little restaurant of the park, she was very good.

An easy 30 minute up-hill hike with some gorgeous views. You can also walk another 2.3km for a birds eye view over the giant glacier. I would say the waterfall was better but everything was beautiful.

It is a easy hike around 2 km from the visitor centre. There is another car park closer to the start of hiking trails if you go straight without turning right to the visitor centre when you are coming from the ring road.That road leads more into the park but it is closed motor traffic from 1st of June to 31st of August except for disabled/ and special permit holders. However from that car park it's about 1.5km to the waterfalls. No need to tell about the scenery ! It's amazing and one should see for self on a clear day. Even in summer (it's very windy and cold) so wear appropriately which I didn't.Once you've enjoyed the waterfall and surroundings go up the other way and follow the signs to the view point which is about 250m from the waterfall for unforgettable view of the whole area.

This interesting waterfall is a 1.8km (one way) easy walk from the visitors center.I liked it!The wall behind the waterfall has this unique basalt collumns formation.There are other options of longer hikes. Information panels and maps are available at the visitor center.

The glacial lagoon just blew me away. Astonishingly beautiful. Just stunning. Everywhere you look there are glaciers, lava fields, waterfalls. Want to return as soon as possible.

Que dire ?C'est magnifique en hiver, un dessert de neige qui une fois la balade finie donne une vue imprenable sur le glacier et comme c'est en hiver, aucun TOURISTE, du coups on peut profiter de la vue et du silence quasi total !MAGNIFIQUE

heel bijzonder om tussen de ijsschotsen te varen en te lopen, gelukkig niet heel druk met mensen, wij hadden gereserveerd voor een boottocht, en omdat er maar een paar bootjes zijn, was dat wel nodig, op het meer zelf zie je hoogstens 1 of 2 andere bootjes; ook het zwarte strand oplopen naar de ijsschotsen daar is mooi,

Magnifiques paysages et atmosphère, coté lac et coté mer valent tous deux la peine à pied et en vous posant où vous voulez…et rêver….

Le Jökulsarlon est un endroit magique.Nous avons eu la chance d'avoir un temps superbe .Nous avons pris l'excursion en zodiac dans l'après -midi ( chère c'est vrai) mais ça vaut vraiment le coup nous avons pu voir des phoques se prélasser au soleil sur les icebergs , approcher le glacier ...Nous y sommes retourner à minuit et nous avions le site pour nous c'était un moment exceptionnel...

c'est un lieu incontournable du sud est de l'IslandeJôkulsarlon est un des plus beaux sites du pays, surtout si le temps est dégagé et les touristes pas trop nombreux (hors saison)le parc national comporte de nombreux chemins de randonnée, à faire seuls ou avec un guide (sur glaciers)
