ArchaeoEngland
The museum holds mostly household items, many beautifully crafted in old Icelandic style.A salvaged homestead interior has been built inside the museum, with beds, furniture etc .The director, the young and talented Rannveig Thorhallsdottir, speaks good english and gives a fascinating account of life in the old times. The museum has also rebuilt a viking style church a few miles away, near the original church site.An extra bonus is that the old OPEL garage up the hill from the museum , is now a warehouse for old automotive and army vehicles and 4x4 army lorrys converted to winter campers, along with all sorts of good "junk".There is a good cafe on the way up the hill too.A good base for NE IcelandThouroughly recommended small museum.
