Went in search of Grotta lighthouse but the snow overtook the trip and we were forced to return to town,beautiful scenery though with or without the snow

Had heard a lot about this place for being popular in summers but we were here in winters for Northern lights, I must say one of the perfect place to gaze if the sky is clear. Absolute dar, sky full of stars and you waiting for the most beautiful experience of life. And you being lucky to view the lights. It’s an awesome feel.

Lovely views, lovely beach, good walk near by, it takes a great photo and plenty of parking nearby. Probably better to see in the summer.

Very busy location off Seltjarnarnes a suburb of Reykjavik. During times when the Northern Lights are out it is packed with people and many tour operators that offer NL tours make this their first stops so parking can be problematic. As you have water on two sides if you it can be very windy as well. Well worth the short drive (5 minutes) from Reykjavik.

We visited the lighthouse as part of the Northern Lights tour. It is a beautiful area and quite a lovely experience. In the black of night, the glow of the turning beacons was something to see. Even if we hadn't seen the Northern Lights I could have sat and watched these lights all night. Beautiful. There were 100's of us there but you felt the experience was very personal.

Get the number 11 or 13 bus to the lighthouse. deserted but a different aspect on the city.Takes about 1 and a half to walk back along the coast road - good to blow the cobwebs off and a nice break from all the bus tours.

We took wedding photos here at sunset - amazing! If you want to get out next to the lighthouse you have to walk a bit on rocks near the water. We just went out to the beach area and it was beautiful.

We took the hire car out to try and see the northern lights - but unfortunately it was cloudy. But should you wish to see them, head here as the sky is wide and far, barren land by the city.

It was quaint but quite a ways out of town along the harbor. Still had a bit of history and you should do it once if you are there.

Nothing is like sitting there and enjoying the sunset in late summer. The colours are just amazing, see for yourself...
