This is the only fully preserved fortress in continental Croatia and it is classified as zero-category monument. Unfortunately, the city of Slavonski Brod hasn't showed a real initiative to restore it completely, but it is admirable that they do as much as their budget allows them to keep it nice and tidy.Be warned, this isn't another tourist attraction where everything is nice and tidy. Most of the fortress is in ruins, you can still see the scars from the past wars and decades of negligence. It will be nice to follow the progress when they start restoring it.

I wonder why we have not visited the Brod Fortress before? Why only few people know about it, why cSlavonski Brod nothing invested in promotion of its great attraction? That we have not decided to make a break on the journey, we will never seen this Fortess. And that would be a really big loss.In the BF is located Ruzic gallery where you can see a constant and very interesting exhibition of Croatian sculptor and painter.

Compared to other fortresses I came across in my travels, this one was average. There are no buildings open to the public, all you can really do is walk around. Just as well entry is free.

loved the old fortress. located conveniently in the city center. I stayed in Hotel Central and took 10 minute walk to the Fortress. River and other interesting sites located in the vicinity. need to plan more activities in the Fortress to make it more interesting. seems not a lot of people come there for free time.

The fortress provides a very nice walk around and reminds an important part of the Balkan history. In particular, the traveler sees a rather well preserved massive defensive structure that was erected in fear of the Ottoman Turkish expansion to the north. The visit is rewarding but rather short since there are no rooms open to the public (at least there were no when I was there). The cafe-bar in the premises has a great view.

I like it a lot and I think that is the good place to go if you are in Slavonski Brod because it is built hundreds yoears ago. It looks very old and it has to be renovated but renovates are going on and it is getting better and better.

Nice summer walk during late afternoon. Very close to the river walk. It seems that some reconstruction works are going on, but no buildings were open to public. You can only take a walt around and enyoj the scenery.

An old fortress from the 18th century is well preserved, but stil needs a lots of renovation. Today it's a stage for numerus city happenings..Inside of this fortress there is worlds only museum of instrument called tambura, a tipical instrument for the region of Slavonija. Turist bord of Slavonski Brod offers something called ''living history program'', and in this program during your walk through fortress you meet diferent caracters from the fortress history. You can talk to them and they will describe their life and work in and on the fortress itself.. Great expiriance..

Esse forte eh um local lindissimo, fronteira da Croacia com a Bosnia. Agradabilissimo.Hoje o predio que abrigava os soldados eh uma escola, existe um museu, e a tranquilidade reina. Esta em constante reforma para ser o que era antes. E existe o Caffe Cappelano, local amavel e com atendimento perfeito! Mais um lindo lugar na Croacia!
