Unique small town that has the port on one side, and a lovely coastal walk on the other side. There are many bars and restaurants.

Take the time to run all the little streets that are connected horizontally and vertically, and guides you through all of Rab parks, churches, galleries, walls, ... Unforgettable is view on the old city from walls in the park Komrcar.

Although small and not easy to get to, I had to take a bus from Opatija (2 leave per day) to the bus station of Rab and then wait 1 hour in the bus station to catch the bus to the centre of historic Rab, it really is worth it. Croatia is chock full of quant little towns and Rab is one of them. The square in front of the church is the most pittoresque. Museum-wise, I would not bother. There are very few museums and what is available is not of that much interest. Rab is more of a walk-about town. The square where the bus drops you off is as well. This is a tiny medieval town that can easily be done in 2 hours but if you take lunch on the main square where the post office is, you might want to take 3 hours. It's peaceful, it's calm and the views from the ramparts of the surrounding countryside are really breath-taking. If you are anywhere near Rab, I would recommend it. If you spend a few days in Opatija and are looking for a half-day excursion, Rab would be the answer!

Cannot come to Rab without visiting old town and participate in islands traditional Rabske fjere event. This is unique happening where all of the citizens participate in. For 3 days Rab is going back in medieval times and presents life and history how it was. This is really something special, unique and worth seeing and coming for. Old town by itself is beautiful, experience by walking only is remarkable, strongly reccommended!

Right back from a short visit to the island of Rab and the old town Rab. 3 nights (exactly 2 this year since the rain ruined the saturday) from friday to sunday with living history giving a special atmosphere to the town of Rab. People in medieval costumes, cosy squares and streets full of interesting stands, tasty food and good wine. Many local visitors and a totally friendly atmosphere. Everything ends up sunday when the big ceremony of local crossbowers takes up the duel with crossbowers from Italy and makes a great performance. At midnight the celebration ends with fantastic fireworks. Definitely one of the nicest festivals of this kind in Croatia.....

Picturesque medieval town, you can spend hours here! You can find something interesting on corner in every street. Little to much of shops with really bad merchandise.Great coffee places, not bad nightlife...
