We spent a few days on Cres and decided to stay in Cres itself. I think this was a good choice as it was less upmarket than Mali Losinj, and the other places would have been too small. It had plenty of places to eat and stay and the swimming was close to town.

We went for a week on the island of Cres expecting the usual seaside town instead we found a beautiful mediterranean island perfect for the whole family and friends. Great little restaurants (we ate fresh fish every nights), great big blue sea (swimming with fish, blue lagoon, extremely clean), fishing villages with lovely history and marinas and on top of that the weather was fantastic. We'll definitely be back soon.

A lovely little town with a very picturesque harbour and lots of places to eat and drink. The best way to see this is by gooing on the Fish Picnic on the Klinica pirate boat.

This is probably my favorite place in Croatia and I go to Croatia an average two times per year. The island's proximity to Italy destined it to have changed hands frequently over the centuries, leaving marks of both Italian and Slavic culture.Forget the overwhelming white stone buildings of Dalmatia, Cres is vibrant with colors and life. Cres town as I found it is pretty much bilingual, you better brush up your Italian unless you want to practice Croatian. All other languages follow far behind. You need to take a ferry to get there (I do not know if you can fly in) and it does filter turists.I visited Cres a couple of times with family, children and friends.A beautiful place to go and crystal clear water. The port is alive with events in the evening, do not miss it!

After two days in Zagreb, we left for the island Krk, located in norhern part of Adriatic Sea, near the city of Rijeka. We travelled by the car, and in real manner, felt all the advantages of the super highway, that connected us with the island. What was before, one trip, three hours long, now or rather two years already, takes only an hour of time. And what is equal important, is that You pass on Your way, the beautiful bridges, viaducts and numerous, very well technically equipped tunnels, that represent the last word of the building technology. We passed by Karlovac on the river Kupa, then Vrbovsko and stopped in Ravna Gora. That was already the Primorje - Gorski Kotar county.Very picturesque surroundings, we've seen then, indeed, that is, mountainous region. After this little rest, we continued our journey, and by passing Delnice and Fužine, two very significant touristic sites, got to the Adriatic sea coast, near the very nice city, Rijeka. Turned to the southeast, toward Bakar and Kraljevica. Kraljevica is the oldest shipyard on the Adriatic and Bakar is a port for bulk cargo and before, in former Yugoslaviaknown by its coke factory. So, this way, we reached the arch bridge, that spans the narrows over the little island Saint Marco and passed on the inland of the Krk island. It pleased me at the first sight, with its country roads, little stony villages, vineyards, olive fields and above all, the towns as Krk, Vrbnik,Malinska,Njivice,Omisalj, Stara Baska, Punat. Here on island, You can make some biking, mountaineering on the nearby hills. You can visit the charming little churches and cathedrals in main cities on island. By the way, there is,even an airport here, in the outskirt of Omisalj, called "Rijeka". During the day, profit as much as You can, the beauties of the beaches, the sailing on the boats, or take the sailboard, due to, at moments, the strong winds, blowing through the narrows, between the Krk Island and mainland. In the evening hours, drop in some little restaurant or tavern, locally called, the "konoba" and take the fish with some white or red wine.Just excellent sojourn, we spent here for ten days.

Okay first of all as someone else already said, Omišalj is a small town on the Island Krk. Cres is a completely different island. Deffo one of the top 5 islands in Croatia. If you're a fan of bicycling, be sure to bring your bike along. I found the most amazing roads I've ever seen in my life. The whole island is amazing, so many places to eat great food, untouched nature and most of all, clean and clear sea. There are so many small and hard to find beaches but just talk to the locals and they'll tell you where to go.

One of the most beautiful islands in Croatia for sure. When you travel from one side to the other it does not look so atractive because on the main street you can't see the sea side. Go in the villages and away from the main road and everithing changes. The are planty of beaches that are difficult to find, on some of them is even difficult to go by walk but in the end you will really enjoy. If you go by boat try to find the beach with the blue cave.. is a MUST SEE!!

stopped here for lunch while on a fish picnic boat trip. It really made my holiday. This beautiful little island is by far one of the prettiest places I have stopped at. Still traditional, and largely unaffected by tourism. Its a lovely place to wander around for an hour or so, or just sit and relax with an icecream at one of the harbourside eateries.

I have revisited the Island many times. My parents have taken us back to their Island of Cherso starting when I was 4yrs old. The last time I went was 15 years ago. What a difference. Back then their was only 1 gift shop and 1 great Pizza place. I just got back with my kids and my Mom to honor my father who just passed away. It has so many restaurants and gift shops. Years ago the only thing you did was go to the beach during the day and walk around town at night. This year we rented motorscooters to go visit the town of Valun and Lubenice. We also went on the Pirate ship "Korsaro" which took you to Blue Caves. Will hope to go back again and visit relatives soon.
