The Shipka Memorial is located in the Shipka Pass of the Balkan Mountain, almost in the middle on the road between the towns of Gabrovo and Kazanlak. It is built in a beautiful area where sanguinary battles, of great importance for the Bulgarian history, took place during the Russian-Turkish War of 1877/78. This is a monument to those who died in the battle for the Shipka Pass. There are 5 floors of exhibitions of artifacts from those days. Then when going up, if you climb to the top, you will have stunning panoramic views of the mountain for kilometers afar. Visiting the memorial is definitely worth the climbing!Highly recommended!

Even though it's technically not in the most populated or touristic place, you should try to visit it, maybe as you make your way around Bulgaria. Car would be your best option. You need to reach one of the peaks at the Shipka Pass. Firstly you'll see many canons and after a short walk up the hill you'll find this large memorial. It's quite impressive with the large statue of lion above its entrance. The memorial honours the fallen during the Russian-Turkish war. It also provides you with the opportunity to take pictures of surrounding country, the panorama is quite spectacular.

The memorial is located near the top of the pass, 15km from Shipka along Route 5 towards Gabrovo.It is well worth a visit. The 360 degree view from the top is stunning, with Buzludzha in the distance and the wind farm beyond.As you would expect for the location, the wind was fierce at the top, so make sure your dress appropriately.The Memorial was built to those who died during the Battles of Shipka Pass in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78.Inside the door is a marble sarcophagus. The door to the tower is on the left.As you climb to the top, each floor contains explanations about the war and its participants, including artefacts and artwork.Tickets are purchased from a small building at the base of the monument itself.

Driving around the central Bulgaria in october/november 2011, we wnet to the Shipka Memorial. Driving through the Shipka Pass was the most beautiful scenery I ever experienced in Bulgaria. I want to do that Again.

This monument is a must-see! The views from it are absolutely amazing: a sea of hills stretching out in all directions for miles. Legend has it that on a clear day you could glimpse the Aegean to the south. No such luck for me, since I visited on a day when the clouds rushed through the sky like mad, alternately concealing and revealing the horizon. You can park at two locations: one is by the main road where the little restaurants are (if you do this, prepare for a climb of 890 steps to reach the monument); your second option is to continue by car up a narrow winding road to a little parking lot at the base of the monument, merely 250 steps away from the top. The monument itself is very nicely maintained. Inside, as you make your way to the top observation deck, you pass through tiny galleries filled with war artifacts and works of art. The staff was very friendly. Grab a jacket for the top: it gets blustery.

シプカ峠の駐車場から約９００段の階段を上ったところに有ります。時間がなく約５３０段登ったところで引き返しましたが、霧がかかり良く見えませんでした。家族ずれが結構登っていました。階段の両側には雪が積もっていました。高さ約３０ｍのきっぱな記念碑だそうです。）

Будучи в Болгарии конечно не мог не побывать на перевале Шипка. Здесь расположен мемориал в память павших за освобождение Болгарии во время обороны перевала Шипка в русско-турецкой войне. Грандиозное сооружение, расположенное на на пике Столетова (названного в честь русского генерала). Внутри монумента расположен музей, рассказывающий об обороне Шипки. Кроме того сверху открывается потрясающий вид, который в мое посещение к сожалению был скрыт облаками.

Историческое место, памятник доблести русской армии. Невозможно не посетить это место будучи в Болгарии. Основная стоянка автотранспорта расположена у подножия горя, здесь же небольшое кафе и несколько сувенирных лавочек. Отсюда начинается длинная лестница ведущая к вершине горы и памятнику. Подъем долог и непрост. Одолев этот путь, обнаружили у подножия памятника парковку и уходящую вниз дорогу. Однако расстройства не было - этот подъем надо преодолевать пешком! В это время опустился туман и даже верхнюю часть монумента было не видно. Пошли в музей расположенный внутри монумента. Очень интересная экспозиция. Туман не рассеивался, пришлось спуститься вниз. Пока обедали в кафе, погода наконец-то прояснилась. Теперь уже на машине поднялись обратно на вершину. Сверху открываются просто замечательные панорамные виды на окрестности.
