Beautiful churches, old houses and rural charm. Its not touristy, and thats good. Very good. To get here , from Moscow, go to Tushinskaya station(Moscow metro) and go to bus depot across the street. There, buy one way for 500 Rubles. Its supposed to take 4 and a half hours but, with traffic, can take 6, even 6 1/2. Same for going back. If office is open in Kashin buy return ticket, theres 40 odd seats and it may fill up. Trains come from Rybinsk only at early am, like 2am. Try to see some villages outside Kashin. , Zobnino, Verkhnyaya Troitsa(Kalinin fame), theres horseback riding there. Moose abound. Fish in rivers or lakes. The silence in the town is its own reward, in the villages its very very quiet. The people are good people, very good. One thing is the local restaurant(?) is foul. Everything comes with mayonaisse and is old and badly cooked. Even the locals confess as much.

Lovely old city far from the usual turistic paths reminds me the ancient times. The center is fascinating and surrounded of old silent churchs. So far from the chaos of the big cities.

Kashin (Кашин) is a picturesque old town, much more sad and authentic than, for example, Uglich. Instead of the huge Volga river there is tiny Kashinka and several sources of mineral water, which is quite famous in Tverskaya oblast'. One may try three types of it on the territory of the local spa-hotel. It is also possible to buy "Kashinskaya" and "Anna Kashinskaya" mineral water in most of local food stores. The history of Kashin is sad, and it is felt there. At the beginning of XX century there were more than 20 churches and 3 monasteries. Some of them were destroyed or damaged, but now one may still see about 15 of them, in better or worse state. Come to the city museum if you want to know more.In the centre of the town there is an impressive Voskresensky cathedral. It is worth to get on the bell tower for the view, but be aware of the stairs. On the right from the cathedral one may see a monument to the local saint, Anna Kashinskaya. Her tragical life was followed by the dramatic history of her canonization, though local people have always loved and venerated her. Other notable piece of architecture in Kashin is old shopping arcade, reminding of the glorious past of the town. Though one may do some shopping there even now, like hundred years ago. The typical souvenir from Kashin is the production of local alcohol factory, "Veresk" (unfortunately, the factory itself is hidden behind the fence, and no excursions are made). The town is proud of its wooden bridges for pedestrians, some provide quite an opportunity for a nice picture.To sum up I would say that Kashin, still sleepy and not spoiled by constant flow of people, deserves to be loved. If you are not scared by real non-touristic Russia, come here.

незаслуженно подзабытый, как и многие подобные, небольшой городок в Тверской области. Всего 200 км от Москвы, очень приятные улочки, много церквей, правда состояние большинства оставляет желать лучшего. Типичный представитель городов "Золотого кольца"

Кашин не самое посещаемое туристами место, но здесь в центре есть на что посмотреть. Много сохранившихся домов 18--19 века, несколько церквей разной степени сохранности, живописные виды на реку. В общем есть где погулять несколько часов.

в центре города есть на что посмотреть: торговые ряды, старые купеческие дома. в целом архитектура типична для городов такого плана, но все равно можно открывать для себя какие-нибудь интересные места, видовые точки. ну и просто приятно погулять

понравилась архитектура, композиция, расположение. Не понравилось состояние дорог и зданий. Понравились люди. Очень понравился санаторий "Кашин", где работают настоящие специалисты. Отличные грязи, вода. процедуры, питание. Великолепный персонал. Но в санаторий надо вложиться. Это достояние страны. А какие там врачи!!!! Таких надо еще поискать. Если мой отзыв поможет в заботе о санатории, то буду благодарна!

Провели почти целый день здесь. так не хотелось уезжать. Милый старый город,тихий и уютный. С удовольствием погуляли по старой части города,полюбовались старинной архитектурой. В центре очень красивый собор,но внутрь не смогли попасть. Погуляли вдоль речки Кашинки- тихой и чистой. Купили в местном магазине минеральную воду из местных источников- рекомендуем всем!

Старинный купеческий городок недавно праздновал 725-летие . Древние крепостные валы, дореволюционные купеческие ряды, соборы, церкви, купеческие особняки на берегах Кашинки, делающей петлю в виде сердца в этом месте - все это стоит того, чтобы съездить в Кашин, хотя бы на выходные. Добавьте сюда кристально чистый воздух и вкуснейшие продукты с местного рыночка - Кашину есть, что предложить туристу!
