It is a nice wide open space running through the centre of the city. It would be much nicer without traffic running along both sides.

We spent some lovely days in Lviv and enjoyed every day walking the Svobody Prospect up and down from the Opera to Hotel George. Prospeckt Svobody borders the old town on one side. There are cafes and shops all along.

The centre of the city starts here - always something going on, something to see and do. The opera house at one end, monuments at the other.

The wide street has a pedestrian park in the center which is several blocks long. The buildings have the look of old Vienna which is not surprising since they were build during the Austrian period in the 1800's. A great place to stroll and window shop and admire the beautiful architecture. It is a short walk to the Rynok Square.

This is a wonderful walk. Great people watching, lots of things to see and do along the way. We would recommend early morning or late evening as the best times.

Our hostel was right on svobody. Its a great place to be buzzing with cafe's and shops. Every day there is a market just a couple blocks to the right of the opera theatre (If you're facing the theatre) There are benches to sit and relax, and usually entertainment in front of the opera theatre. Prospekt Svobody is a great place to burn time, and explore

Nice place, very open and full of families and kids. They cater for the kids with all sort of offering rides, sweets, balloons etc..Nice place to grab an ice cream and peoplewatch. it is pedestrianised so it is relatively safe from some of the crazy drivers! However, if it rains, then run. there are few trees to cover you.

Strange to think that you are walking on top of a river. The thing that I loved about this place the most was that kids can hire little mini toy electric cars and drive around the square. All sorts of models and it looked very fun.Other things you can see in the spring - this is where the chess players meet and organise tournaments outdoors. The Opera house is beautiful inside and out.

I've been here in may 2014 and it was so nice. Good open air market with local products, like honey, home made spirits and wine. And near the Opera theatre there's a very relaxed open air bar with beer and bbq. All very affordable (for EU standards) a beer was 10 UAH (at the time of writing only € 0.70) Shaslik or sausage 25-50 UAH. But the best (and for free) is the watching of people and the sun.
