We were not scheduled to land in Svaneke on our cruise but were diverted here due to the whim of he wind. We immediately headed to the tourist office and were delighted to have somebody arrive not long after we got there, two hours earlier than the tourist office was supposed to open. The woman whose name I regretfully did not get, could not have been more helpful or pleasant, in spite of being at work two hours earlier than norma. (apparently, when she was alerted that a cruise ship had been diverted, she made sure that she was there to greet us and several other passengers.) She actually helped us to journey to another little town to see a church but provided great assistance and pamphlets about the town. (Trips to round churches and the castle on the island are quite doable by bus.)When we returned from our journey, we walked around the little harbor town. We say visited the local mostly 19th century church, complete with a rune stone in the church yard and a relatively modern interior with a ship hanging from the ceiling. We also visited the harbor shops and fond several of them quite delightful. Although not on our original itinerary, we enjoyed our visit, The harbor itself was a comfortable place to do some shopping and relax.

Very nice little harbor, although local fishing is actually suffering from fishing quotas etc. There is at least one fishing boat regularly selling fish right off the deck (www.havfriskfisk.dk), the homepage is updated with the landing times/harbors and the types that will be for sale. Fish smokery within walking distance, north of the harbor. Pleasant stroll south of the harbor, gives you a beautiful panorama of the village itself.

We visited it when they were celebrating Sankt Hans festival so there was music and entertainment going on. It has a nice little harbour and if you walk a little further along towards the light house there is an area of sand and you can swim, well if you are brave enough for Danish cold water. It is a very nice little place.

Enjoy the vue on the old harbor of Svaneke, eat an icecream og perhaps one of the handmade drops, that you can by in Svaneke. Try a smoked herring - that is very good, and a must do on Bornholm

Ved ankomst fra vandsiden til havnen,er første ønske opfyldt ,nemlig en p.plads. Svaneke havn er en af de hyggeligste, den byder på små butikker, Store pæne spisesteder med ditto menuer, men også mindre fiskerestauranter, På højen, er der en burger/pølsevogn, og borde/bænke, der bydes på et bredt udvalg, til overkommelig pris. Ved en gåtur ud til yderste molespids, opnåes et fantastisk kik langs kysten.

Svaneke mit seiner Anhäufung von Künstlern und Kunsthandwerker ist mindestens einen Ausflug wert. Besonders empfehlenswert ein Besuch beim Svaneke Bolcher eine Bonbon Manufaktur, hier kann man 2 mal täglich den gesamten Entstehungsprozess von handgemachten Bonbons beobachten, vom Zuckereinkochen bis zum Verpacken der fertigen Guzzis. Räucherei, Glass, Lakrize, Samstagsmarkt wären die weiteren Empfehlungen von mir.

Svaneke hat sich in den letzten Jahren immer mehr zu einem lohnenden Besuchsziel entwickelt. Der Hafen war immer schon einen Besuch wert und der Leuchtturm gehört für mich zu den schönsten der Insel (traumhafte Lage). Ganz toll sind aber die vielen Kunsthandwerker, die sich hier niedergelassen haben.

Svaneke er en lille idyllisk og enorm hyggelig havneby. Byen er ekstremt velholdt, det gælder såvel huse, haver, butikker, både og gader. Der er noget for de alle; de små, de store og de gamle Jeg vil helt sikkert gerne besøge Svaneke igen
