the drive through and beside the Andes is beautiful...it's very accessible from anywhere near Mendoza, Tunuyan or near areas. The 1 km walk from the park site is easily do-able. You can have lunch in Uspallata...be sure to have a full tank of gas when driving over.

Getting to the mountain can by tricky if you're staying in Lujan de Cuyo/Vista Alba because the online information is scarce. We stayed with Mike & Celeste from airbnb and they said that after the 6am Mendoza city stop, the yellow Buttini bus comes by (be waiting at 6:15am) and stops where the bus stop is across from Atomo supermarket on Roque Saenz Pena, but you can't ask in the bus stop as they supposedly don't have omnibus info. Mike says you can try calling Buttini, but they don't always pick up. Anyways, according to Mike you can pay on the bus and it will drop you at the Puente de Los Incas. If it's the off-season and you're just visiting Horcones, supposedly you can just pay the AR$20 peso fee at the park entrance, which I think is about a mile further up the road from the Puente de Los Incas. All of this is not easy to find online, so it's nice to have input from a local. It's a 1-mile walk on the unused rail road tracks or directly on the road to reach the path to Horcones or park entrance. There's another entrance/exit at Lago Espejo which is often dry vs. a lake. A friend and I took a private tour with Yael and Pampa (PrimaTerra Tourism) and had a blast. It's a 3-4 hour ride from Lujan de Cuyo with some spectactular views, so being able to pull over and stop to take photos, share mate etc. was nice. There was a pit stops as well, which the bus doesn't offer. We had a blast and learned more about the region, thanks to Yael! Here's the Parque website with bus times:http://www.aconcagua.mendoza.gov.ar/index.php?option=com_zhgooglemap&view=zhgooglemap&id=1&Itemid=444

Its 170 km to get to this park at the foot of Mt Aconcagua, but worth it. A one hour hike through the stream valley above a tiny lake takes you to a footbridge a few miles from the mountain. There are wild horses drinking from the snowmelt. The barren, multicolored landscape actually deserves the overused "awesome."

Beautiful mountains. Breath taking scenery. Great for the family. Nature at its best. Bring plenty of water and food shoes. Temperatures drop at night so be prepared and being a jacket even if it's warm out.

A must do if you are in Mendoza. The hike in the park is amazing. We were lucky to see some condors. The pictures can't captures all the hues of the mountain colors
