In an illness shortened trek, we visited the entrance of the Park. The mountains have fascinating geological formations with colorful and irregular waves. It is especially interesting to get past the ranger station at 2800meters and walk up the nest 200-300 meters. It is well worth the effort and the effects of altitude should be minimized if you drink at least 2 liters of water and not spend more than 12 hours. The fossil rock at the entrance are interesting without being extensive.A very nice day trek in this dry mountain environment in spite of the almost inexistant vegetation.

A long drive from Mendoza city, but still an interesting place to visit. Be prepared for very strong winds & much cooler temperatures. Take your winter gear, you might need it. But the bathrooms are not clean & they don't keep toilet paper & soap there. Bring your own, be prepared.

The highest mountain outside of Asia is right between Chile and Argentina and it's sometimes forgotten by South Americans. This is an impressive park for hiking even for the ones willing to do the single day trek to Confluencia. The way up can be a little exhausting specially for those not used to higher altitudes, so it can take a little longer then expected to get to the first stop. After there you have to spend the night (you must have a tent in case you didn't book a tour or anything) in case you want to hike up to the Plaza de Mulas or Plaza Francia. For those willing to get to the top: climbing experience and some pretty decent gear are necessary. For the one day hike just bring some sunscreen, a hat, and a lot of water and food.

We booked a day tour – High Mountain Tour, through Mendoza Holidays. Beautiful views, climate, clean air. Light treks for all fitness levels. Hiking up the Aconcagua surrounded by the majesty of the Andes has definitely been a once in a lifetime experience! .

We went on a day-trip from Mendoza to Parque Provincial Aconcagua and it was well worth the long 10 hour day. The views from the trail are breathtaking. Aconcagua is a monster of a mountain, the highest on 6 continents.
