We decided to contract a group excursion with guide, as some roads within the volcano area need a 4 x 4 car. Our minibus took us to a vantage point, which is reached only by a side road and is not specially marked, so we were really happy to take a guided tour. Upon parking all seven volcanos can be seen, we had luckily a beautiful day. On the north Copiapo, on the south Lanin, both on the Argentine side, plus five peaks more on the Chilean side, among them the Osorno, slightly fuming. Next we went to the antenna viewpoint, again our driver took us a few hundred meters below, where the view of lakes Aluminé and Moquehue is the best. Last we reached the lake, filling the whole crater with only the upper walls of the volcano above us. On the whole a very recommendable excursion.

In summer its a completely different experience, and we were pleasantly surprised! Worth driving up in a 4x4 if you have the chance, but if not you can drive most of the way and can walk the last 500m to the top and peer into the crater of the volcano! Super!

This place is amazing, has a great view. Also the trekking time was a bit tired so u need to use comfortable shoes and clothes

Really nice place to go. You can drive and leave your car almost on the volcano's mouth which is a nice lagoon, but you can also climb to the top and have a wonderful view of several additional volcanoes some on the Argentina's side, and some on Chile's side. You can also see from there these lakes: Alumine, Moquehe, Icalma chico and Icalma grande.Don't miss it!

Es un lugar cercano a la villa, se accede fácilmente, es muy original y con hermosas vistas, lo noté algo abandonado, los cestos rebalzaban de basura y mucha estaba desparramada en los alrededores.

Subiendo desde la laguna del Batea Mahuida, se puede hacer una picada hasta un mirador alucinando de todo el lago y la villa. Se ve Chile. Hay un ascenso para 4x4, solo hacerlo si se tiene este vehiculo porque es muy empinado resbaloso.

Llevar Parka y un buen 4x4 , la subida es realmente alta, mucho viento pero vale la pena, se paga un costo por persona de 10 pesos argentinos.

No parece dificil acceder a esta única atracción, que además, permite, desde sus más de 1.700 m, una vista espectacular de la zona. Imperdible

Muy lindo el viaje de ascenso al Volcán Batea Mahuida, lo hicimos en auto, el camino , muy bueno. A llegar nos encontramos con la laguna, desde allí , bordeando la misma, se asciende al volcán caminando. También debo destacar, que hay que tener en cuenta en el horario que uno decida hacerlo, pués , alrededor de la laguna No hay sombra. Desde la cima la vista imponente de la Cordillera, hace que valga la pena el esfuerzo para llegar. En el lugar, no hay ningún tipo de servicio, si lo podemos encontrar, bajando en el camino, en un restaurant .

No pudimos llegar hasta la cima del volcán con el auto porque una de las subidas es muy pronunciada. Sólo se puede acceder en 4x4.
