This small but cute church with an attractive adobe-washed façade sits on the West side of Plaza Gomez, the main square of this typical North Argentinian pueblo bustling with hawkers and merchants selling wares we have not seen elsewhere than in this province. It has an attractive altar that goes back to the 17th Cent., and it provides music every day at noon to accompany the movements of the mechanical effigy of St Francis that resides in the nearby Town Hall, at the side of which you will find public toilets for which you will be charged 2 pesos. Surprisingly, the church actually holds the status of a cathedral. The square is colorful , tapering at one end into the main street, while the opposite side is relatively open and provides a stunning view of the celebrated Monument to the Heroes of Independence. The square and the church are worth a visit if you are passing nearby one way or another.

Humahuaca is a pueblo in the Humahuaca Valley, 10,000 feet above sea level. Many Bolivian immigrants sell traditional Andean crafts and coca leaves. The architecture, adobe houses, street lamps and cobblestone streets are all from another time. The ancestral customs continue here.The historic Cabildo building (town hall) is the home of the main tourist attraction. There is a stellar performance by San Francisco Solano, a mechanical statue with waving arms that blesses the audience of tourists and locals every day at noon. Si ud. aprecia el arte durante la época de la colonización, este es su lugar. Este edificio eclesiástico es un lugar en dónde se albergan obras de arte singulares de la colonia que datan del siglo XVII. Averigue bien en la oficina de turismo los horarios de atención al público que pueden variar conforme la época del año. No deje de pasar por aquí !

Iglesia del siglo XVII. Es una pequeña iglesia muy bien conservada, es muy sencilla y linda. Después de la bendición de San Antonio en la plaza abren las puertas. Tiene el encanto de las pequeñas iglesias del norte Argentino, hay que conocerla.

La iglesia de la Virgen de la Candelaria es del siglo XVII y se conserva muy bien. Hermosa como todas las pequeñas iglesias del Norte argentino, refleja la fe y la religiosidad de un pueblo. En realidad el pueblo de esa región es muy religioso, pero se da la particularidad que conviven la fe católica con el culto (pagano) a la Pachamama (madre tierra), ésto se produce producto de la estrategia evangelizadora que utilizaron los Jesuitas. Muy interesante por cierto…

Igreja colonial do século XVII, porém bem conservada. Tem um guia que explica sobre a história da igreja.

Una hermosura mire por donde se mire; el estado de conservación es elogiable tambien lo son los mantos de la virgen y el pesebre. Hermosa realmente.
