I picked this wine tour to Undurraga, following reviews at TripAdvisor which is always helpful but not this time. 85% of the tour spent in the garden showing local trees and plants. 10% of the tour looking at a cellar full of barrels (Empty I think) and a room with objects from a tribe which is thousand kilometres south from this region, 5% of the time tasting two reds, two whites and one rose all of them poor quality. Well, that's all after 30 minutes waiting in site to start the tour and 25 minutes at the end to depart back to town. Nothing physical to see about the process except for a discharged press at the entrance of the cellar and the look from distance of a couple of stainless steel tanks all shown by a junior guide with poor knowledge.

Wonderful tour. Informative yet not excessively long. Beautiful location, great tasting wine, very easy to get to from downtown Santiago.Price was $9,000 pesos per person. Tours are available at different times of the day and are available in both Spanish and English. Talagante.Simply take the bus to Talagante (see pictures) from the Metro Station (Estacion Central). The buses run like every 10 minutes beginning as early at 7 AM, I think (possibly earlier). The cost is only like $1500 per person. Simply pay the driver when you board. There is no need to buy bus tickets in advance. Ask the driver to leave you off at the vineyard entrance (Senor, puede dejarme enfrente la vina Undurraga). He will know right where to go. The bus ride from downtown will take 40-50 minutes. Grab the bus at platforms (andenes) 78, 79, 80 and 81. Make sure it says "Talagante" on the front of the bus.You will be receiving a free wine glass at the end of the tour.When you are ready to return to Santiago, simply walk out to the main road again (be careful - very fast drivers), cross the street and hail the next bus to Santiago. It will say "Santiago" on the front of the bus. Take it until it stops in front of Estacion Central. You will know you are there because anyone else who might still be on the bus at this time will be getting off.**Should you arrive to the vineyard with 20 minutes or so to spare and are in the mood for some hot coffee and fresh bread then walk up the road about a block and on the left hand side is a mini market (the vineyard gatekeeper knows where it is) and grab yourself a little bite to eat before starting the tour. That is a nice winery to visit while in Santiago, it is in a city nearby. You can go by bus, if you don´t rent a car or don´t want to go with the hotel vans. We were surprised with the tour, after an uninsteresting visit to Concha y Toro the day before. I strongly recommend a visit to Undurraga. The only problem is that we didn´t get their Premium Tour, for that you must have at least a group of three. Well, we went on their basic tour anyways and it was great. Our guide was very nice. We got to see the production from the grape selection to the oak barrels. We got to taste 4 wines, 2 red, 1 white and 1 dessert wine. The winery is beautiful, and the price for the tour was good. The only problem is that the basic tour had about 35 people, so it was a bit crowded, but i got to ask what i wanted and the the guide tried to make time to answer everybody. It was the best tour we had on our stay.

Visited Vina Undurraga outside Santiago and it was a great adventure. The flowers, plants and trees on the property are worth the trip. We also were taught how they make wine and about the vines used for each type of wine. At the end we were given tastes of several types of wine. They have a gift shop where wines can be purchased along with other articles. Very nice place. The guide at the vineyard was simply marvelous.I went in a van with Touristik driver and guide from Santiago.

We followed the previous advice on this site and spontaneously caught the No. 75 bus to Talagante which was 1,100 Chilean Pesos (2015 pricing) from the San Borja terminal at Estacion Central (with no confirmed reservation).This was the local bus, which had its own charm and the driver kindly dropped us off outside the vineyard at 15h00. The english tour commenced at 15h30 and we spent 25 minutes relaxing under the trees in the park... Our tour guide, Javier, was excellent, with well rehearsed and amusing one-liners and interesting information about wine. The estate is beautiful and the wine cellar is intriguing. The museum with the indigenous artefacts was also very interesting. The wine was delicious (particularly the sauvignon blanc and carmenere)! A wonderful way to spend the afternoon...

You can find wine country all over Chile. A trip to Vina Underraga happens daliy with Turistik ($55) tours. You can book a morning (9am) or afternoon (2pm) tour normally lasting about 4 hours. I found the tour very educational especially having the opportunity to see the vineyard, vineyard displays (for each wine produced), distilleries, and wine cellars (both bottled and barreled in American Oak) where they store the wine for years. At the end of the tour you get to taste four-five different types of wine. They give you a complimentary wine glass and lastly you have time to buy wine to take home. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the Santiago, Chile area in the future. Enjoy the Chilean experience first-hand. Happy Travels!!!

I wish to thank the traveler who posted instruction on how to visit the Undurraga winery, nearSantiago. We followed his instructions and everything went perfect. (we were there dec. 23, 2014)We were fortunate to have German as our guide...he has been with the winery for 26 years...he was excelent. We buy Undurraga wines in Puerto Rico and use them as our regular "vino de la casa"...Thank you Tripadvisor and the traveler who gave us such good and clear instructions on your site.Angeles Alvarado, San Juan, Puerto Rico

If you have a bit of patience and want to save a lot of money! I followed the very good review of 'Corderio' from 16th June 2014'. His instructions were so so simple!! I'm not a big wine fan...infact I rarely drink it..but this tour was amazing as I learnt so much about the different varieties etc. I'm not there for the wine so it's a skewed review I suppose ? MY wife drinks wine and she wanted to go to at least one winery. We decided Undurraga over the other main stream ones.The day before, just book your tour with an English speaking guide : http://www.undurraga.cl/It's just an email, very simple and quick reply. Getting there allow just over an hour to be safe...we JUST got there 5 min late and it was ok.-Take the train to Estación Central. You will need a Bip! card if you haven't gotten one. Easy to do at the station. The train network is really easy to figure out. -From there walk to the shopping centre and through the shopping centre towards San Borja which is the bus terminal station. It's about a 5 min walk in the really large mall.-Take the no. 75 bus to Talagante. However, ask the bus driver 'Undurraga?' and they will direct you to which no. 75 bus it is (there were 4 when we were there...they must take different routes).-From there about 30-40 min bus ride..try to sit at the front to tell the bus driver..I just had google maps open so I knew when it was coming up. -The bus stop is right outside Undurraga....couldn't be easier. Go in to reception and find your guide.-To come back is a bit of a drama...the bus stop is on the other side but the buses may be full and you may have to wait about 20 min until one comes that's empty. Most people get off after 15 min in so you'll get a seat afterwards.-Drops you off just outside that mall and you can make your way to the station or food court as we did to grab a bite to eat.So the bus costs 1000 Chilean peso's each way and the tour 8000 Chilean pesos...so compared to all those organised tours...you get the same out of this. You just pay for transport the other way. The guide was very informative, we only had 3 people in our tour so could ask a lot of questions. I was amazed at how he talked about the different types of grapes etc which ones do well and why. How they store and create the wines. There is some wine tasting at the end of 3 or 4 wines and you can purchase more at the gift shop. It's nice of them to give you the wine glasses in a nice box to take with you as a gift. By the way, there is no food available there, we were hoping to have lunch there so don't make that same mistake. No restaurant

Very nice place, the guide explains it very well for those as myself are not very familiar with wine and tasting at the end of the walk was really enjoyable,

German was our guide and made this tour so funny. He explained everything and made jokes all the time, since the very first minute. The tour takes 1 hr top, including the wine tasting. First you are invited to walk thru the wines, but unfortunately they just changed the vines and we couldn't see anything, just the fields. After that went inside where the produce and stock the wines, nice place to take some pictures. German was telling the history of the vineyard during the tour. The last and best part is the testing, there were 4 different wines to taste and the glass you use will be a "gift" for you, they give a box to pack the glass as well. There is a very nice store to buy the wines and souvenirs like magnets, bags, cloths and other things to eat. Easy to get there, we just needed to get a small bus in the bus station next to the central station and took around 45 min. Paid 14 USD for the regular tour, there is a private tour too. Don't miss that.
