We did a wine tasting here with a group of 8 people and the wines we tasted were of an excellent quality. After the wine tasting we had a lovely lunch outside in the beautiful surroundings of this magnificent vineyard with breathtaking scenery.

Viña Montes is beautiful. Restaurant was great with good food at reasonable price. Had the lamb shoulder, was amazing. Tour was great and could be done in English. Staff were very informative and knowledgeable about the wines.

Overall, this was our favourite winery tour out of the four we visited. We were the only ones in the group which was nice to have the guide be with just the five of us. Romi was very knowledgeable and we learned a great deal from her about the Montes philosophy and the various techniques used to produce their premium wines. The property was beautiful and we were able to take in the great views from their lookout before heading indoors to the purposefully built feng shui facility. During our tasting we were guided through the various subtleties in the wines and considered food pairings. We would highly recommend that you visit Montes if you are in the area.

Very nice tour, beautiful vineyard and of course good wine. We also ate lunch at the vineyard. It is a a little pricey but it was good.

Beautiful winery. Gregorian chants played in the cask room. I had reserved a premium tasting and after the regular tasting we went to a different room. I would have preferred some options or choices on wines to taste (see Concha y Toro review).

My husband and I had a great tour, tasting and lunch at Vina Montes today. The tour started out with a van trip up the hill to get a panoramic view of the property then progressed to the winery itself. Make sure to have the premium tasting which includes their M line and purple angel.

They take you up for very nice views on the tour and also have some terrific wines (Purple Angel is sometimes considered the best carmenere in the world and Montes Folly is another terrific wine). Tour itself was ok. Our guide was a lot of fun and entertaining, but we learned the least about wine on this tour of our three tours in the Santa Cruz area.We did enjoy having lunch at their cafe outdoors before our wine tour. Very affordable and delicious food for a reasonable price. Note, if you are from the USA, DO NOT purchase their high-end wine at the winery. Upon arriving back in the US, I went to our area "wine superstore" to find Purple Angel at half the cost compared with at their winery (~$55 vs. ~$105).

I had been a fan of Montes wines for value based mid-range red wines and I was looking forward to tasting their higher-level wines. I had signed up for their “Icon” tour that involved tasting their highly rated Purple Angel and Folly. When I arrived I was told that as I was the only person with signed up for this level tasting and they would not provide this tasting for just one person. I was therefore left with no choice but to accept their general tasting that consisted of a bargain bin white sauvignon blanc, and 3 wines from their alpha lines which I was already familiar with and could easily buy a of bottle for less then $15 USD. I resented being made to pay for a tasting of such average wines. The purpose of wine tourism is to showcase your star products. None of that happened during this tour. Although the guide was a very pleasant young lady she was clearly not an experienced wine professional, she seemed confused and slightly upset that we used the paper place mat to make tasting notes. As an afterthought she told us we could keep the paper placemat. When she tried to take us down to view the steel tanks and wooden caskets we begged off the remainder of the tour and were mercifully allowed to leave. To give Montes some credit, they reduced the normal fee as we were not staying for the full tour (we got charge approximately $20 USD per person as opposed to the rate of $40). Other positives: winery building is handsome, the truck ride that brings you up the hill overlooking the winery provides a lovely view, and the tasting room was light and airy. My time in this wine region was limited and Montes wasted my time. The experience has changed my attitude towards Montes wines and I will look elsewhere for Chilean wines in the future.

If you want to see more barrels, don't go here. If you like to combine a lovely winetasting with some outdoor activity, Gonzalo is the man you want to talk to. We did a horseback riding tour through the Montes Vineyard, the horses were great as was the equipment. We went up in the hills and had such a nice view over the valley all the way to Santa Cruz. After that a wine tasting with different small food bites that really brought out the best in the wines.Gonzalo speaks English and is a nice person to have as a guide.Apparently there is also a possibility to mountain bike or walk in the vineyard, or to do a different length of tours based on what you like.Recommended

After arriving without noticing a Sunday afternoon my family and I had the chance to visit this beautiful place.Despite not taking a tour, the kind staff of the wine shop allowed us to go into their cellar, a unique place shaped like and amphitheater filled by Gregorian chants. It felt like wine heaven.Afterwards, and without paying a penny, we were allowed to go on our own means to the view point of the vineyard. This allowed us to walk around the vines and see some colorful llamas. The viewpoint was just amazing. The view it gave us of Colchagua (particularly Apalta) was outstanding and made us wish to spend a whole afternoon there (it has a grill so maybe you can do if you book it in advance). The wine shop has about a 25% discount in relation to the wines retails prices and among the tours (which we did not take but will for sure do in the future), there is a four hours trek to a hill behind the vineyard crowned by a wine tasting.Nice place to visit, highly recommended.
