The park is kept in good condition, and the workers we talked to are helpful and friendly. The trails are more nature trails, than hiking trails. They let you see a variety of the plant and bird life within a fairly short distance. We did not take the beach trail in the park, but accidentally wound up on a nearby beach in our car (getting lost before we found the park entrance).....quite a dramatic sight!

If u like nature and trekking u will like this place. U can arrive there by bus that leave u in the entrance of the park (they pass with frequency). U have to pay a ticket for 3 dolars adults aprox and it last all day i think. The roads are not hard so u just will need confortable tennis and sport clothes (sun block is important because uv radiation is really high, and a hat if it is sunny, in winter i dont know maybe because of the rain probably waterproof clothes) and bring food and water from the supermarket in the cities because there it is a bit expensive .biologist or lovers of the nature will love this place because of the biodiversity that u can see in the diferents landscapes along the roads and how they can completely change in just a few metros. Inside of the park there is a restorant if u want to eat. Besides they rent kayak and houses, and camping spaces. Inside of the park there is no trash can.

As far as national parks in Chile go, the easily accessible portion of this one (the south entrance) is nothing to write home about. It has some very short, tame, walking trails and the sights aren't really that compelling. Chiloe is a place to relax, eat seafood, and enjoy the ambience. If you're bored, this park might be worth a trip. I definitely wouldn't pay for a tour here. On the positive side, you won't need hiking boots, trail food, water, walking sticks, or any of that trekking stuff. We drove past the park until we found a little parking area at the beach couple of kilometers up the road. The beach walk was much better than the park.

Everything was wonderful the day we visited. The park was well maintained. The staff courteous and friendly even though we don't speak Spanish. Wonderful example of the local floral and fauna. Great hiking experience in Chiloe!

Nice place to get to know the island better. Easy flat trails for the uninitiated. Good facilities. If you love the island of Chiloe, you should get to see this spot.
