Chillan is a little village near Chillan Viejo, Chile. There, you have two options: rent a cottage or choose one luxury hotel. The cottages are very cheap if you compare with the hotels, which price it's more expensive than Valle Nevado and El Colorado (other two Ski Resorts, near Santiago, almost 8 hours by car from Chillan). The Ski Resort has excellent and extreme tracks. If you like to practice in Black Tracks, there you can. This Ski Resort it's not a good option for the beginners, like me.

I have just spend a long weekend at Nevados de Chillan and found it to be wanting in many areas. Firstly, the service in the restuarants (Tio Willy) is very poor. Our table still had teh old food and empty glass on it when we were seated, which were not removed during our entire meal. In fact they simply placed our food and drinks alongside the old stuff. Moving on... the ski slopes are poorly prepared and, in fact, were not redressed for teh entire 5 day stay. The ski lifts are slow and teh staff unhelpful and unfriendly. The prices from ski schools, to the ski shop and lift passes are very expensive even when compared to other Chillean resorts. In typical Chilean style there is absolutely no attension to detail and customer service is a concept which has not yet reached this country. It is a privately owned resort and it is very apparent that the owners are trying to milk the visitors to the maximum extent possible. If you are planning a sking trip to South America, I would strongly suggest avoiding Chilean and travelling to Bariloche in Argentina.

We're here for 4 days, skiing with my old-time school buddies, have been doing these trips for 10 years now, and visited almost every ski resort in Argentina and Chile. This is the worst experience EVER! A beautiful place, with apparently good runs, and I say apparently because we haven't been able to ski, it's been raining a lot, and the lifts are closed with a minimum breeze. Today they opened the lifts at 9.00 and closed them (the main chair) at 9.40 ! They said winds were 70 Km/h, a big lie, considering the snow-forecast web site says 30-35 km/h. NO REFUND, not even considered a discount when I went to customer service. They recommended us to write a review in their Facebook page, because "nobody read" the complaint book. The Hotel (Gran Hotel Termas de Chillán) is good enough, but not worth the price.IF YOU PLAN TO SKI IN CHILE DON'T GO TO CHILLAN.

I´ve planned this visit to combine skiing in an excellent landscape and good facilities to relax with my wife and a couple of friends. We been for 5 years in a row to the ski resorts near Santiago (El Colorado, Valle Nevado), which we enjoyed a lot, so we were looking to new places to explore. We stayed at Gran Hotel Termas de Chillan, who fulfilled our expectations. Very nice rooms, good restaurants, service was excellent. The bad news came from the ski resort, named Nevados de Chillan (who also runs a couple of hotels), who was a massive disappoint. The worst customer service ever. The main chair lift was closed for one week during high season and they never consider to change the price of the ticket, when you can just access 30% of the runs in that situation. All the lift are terrible old, so with a minimum breeze they just close them. Not only that you may be waiting for them to open for hours, and despite there are some guys who operate the lifts there, they would never consider to comment about the status of them. The signaling of the runs sucks, you never know where you are and where to go, so if you are with intermediate skiers, you may put them at risk. Unless a radical change it is made, it does´t worth going 5hs from Santiago, where you have excellent runs at Valle Nevado or El Colorado. It is a pity how an excellent spot is spoiled by a shameless and awful managing.

This ski resort suffers the same problem others resorts in Chile suffer, the lack of competitors. being the only resort in a range of 400 kilometers, it is extremely expensive (80 usd for daily pass) and service to client is non existing.I started one day at 09:10 and 5 minutes later they closed the main tracks due to windy situation. i never understood why the didn't close it from the beginning, and i will never forget how they treated me when I required reimbursment.it is a shame and I advise not to go to Nevado de Chillan

This ski area/resort is a favorite of locals and foreign visitors, and for good reason--beautiful in all seasons, and especially attractive to skiers in the winter The facilities are good; some are pricey--look for private lodging and hotels that include breakfast.

We ski in South America every year. We have been to Las Leñas, Bariloche, Cerro Castor, 5 years in a row to Chapelco and twice to Chillan (7 years ago). So, we decided to go back to Chillan, since our experience have been so good before. We were VERY upset with what we've found. Attention to the customer is something I think people from Valle las Trancas and Nevados de Chillan have simply forgotten. We have been said that the ski resort have changed hands some years ago. The lifts are old and unconfortable, and the staff simply doesn`t know how to treat turists. There is only one long lift that take you up the mountain (which is still fantastic) but as it was windy (so they said, because we didn't see any wind at all), it was closed. So... the only track we could go down was the beginner's, with long lines in a flat place... It snowed the hole night, so the tracks should be perfect, if only we could get there... There is no machine to make snow, the restaurants are awful, the tracks are not well identified and we could not get up the mountain even trying to pay for the snowcat or a snowmobile to take us there. SO, IF YOU PLAN TO GO TO CHILLAN, SIMPLY FORGET IT!! GO ANY PLACE ELSE IN ARGENTINA, WHERE YOU CAN GET A NICE CUT OF MEAT, A GOOD MALBEC WINE, A FLAVORISH CHOCOLATE AND STILL HAVE A VERY NICE DAY OF SKI!!!
