Impressive site, while the flamingos were few, the lake and proximity to the animals was well worth it. We have kids who are nature lovers (9 & 6) and this was pretty much the highlight of their visit. You will have several photo ops! Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunblock and water, it is very bright. The facilities are very clean and accessible. The is a little pavilion if you get sick or tired. We visited during midday but would love to get back and do a sunset visit.

These is the place to watch flamingos but the most interesting time of the day is the sunset. Even better if you are Lucky to have clouds in the sky. Bring your camera.

You'll find the most number of flamingos at sunrise which is their feeding time or beautiful views at sunset when the light is best for photography. Either way, expect to go away with beautiful photos.I've been to a number of flamingo breeding grounds in Peru, Bolivia and Chile. Lagoon Chaxa offers some of the most close-up views of the flamingos (although they are not the pretty pink of those found in Lagoon Colorado in Bolivia for example). You'll need your own transport or a tour to get here.

we were lucky enough to be the only people in the park and so were able to see the Flamingos up close. It was part of a full day tour by Touravista arranged through Imagine Latin America.

Interesting walk through the salt flats and watching Andean and Chilean Flamingos strut their stuff. The interpretive centre is also interesting as is the lifecycle of the waterborne shrimps which inhabit the lake.
