Steve, our guide from Belgium, is really passionate about meteorite and he is really knowledgeable. He posses the two qualities you are looking for in a guide. Do not miss his tour, the english one starts at 8pm - it is a better way to gain knowledge about the meteorites than reading the posters. The first hour was spent in the museum where Steve would talk about the meteorites. Then, three hours were spent outside where we got to use the telescopes and look for the stars and planets ourselves! We were offered thé or coffee to keep us warm, that's really nice! Overall, I really enjoyed the meteorite tour at the museum and I like Steve's scientific approach.

Rodrigo and Steve really know their stuff. Very interesting to see and learn about meteorites and how they relate to the creation of the planet. Great to be able to touch the meteorites and know that they were almost all found locally. Also did the astrology tour with Steve and had an incredible time searching for stars, planets, contellations, black holes and seeing the rings of Saturn!Warning... It gets cold in the dessert at night!

The museum itself is very nice, but if you want an experience for life, book the astrological tour! Steve, the Belgium guide, will first take you around the museum while telling in the most interesting and enthousiast way as possible about meteorites, space, earth, stars, and how these all interact. Afterwards, you will go outside to watch the stars and planets and other curiosities from space. I saw Jupiter and its moons and the rings of saturn. These two hours were probably the stretch of time in which the density of learning new things was the highest in my life. Why the experience is life-long? In the two months after the tour, I have never looked at the night-sky without repeating what I have learned; that red - non twinkling - "star" is Mars (or one of the many other things that came by on this unforgetable night).

I found the title museum a bit too much for this place. But that's the only downfall. It's quite an interesting display of what can literally smack you on the head falling from above. Good explanations displayed through the pictures and videos. English speaking tourists will benefit from bilingual presentations. What really got our interest was putting our hands over some large pieces of meteorites and then taking a photo with a flash - try, see what you'll find...

This is a small museum, but, very informative! The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable! My husband enjoyed meeting them and will return to the museum when we return to San Pedro de Atacama!
