The displays were a mixture of old and new art and handicrafts. The museum leant itself to wandering and the artifacts were totally accessible.

Finding the museum was a bit difficult but that is the case with most places in Asuncion. No signage directing people to the museum from the main streets. Most hotel staff in the neighborhood didn't know how to get there. It is only open certain hours, so check first. The exhibits were good and the best museum I saw, by far, in Asuncion...but not much to compare with.

Art and relics from the past and present. Their rooms depicting the art work of the Guarani does a superb job of illuminating the difference between the strict, orthodox style of the Jesuits vs. the interpretive openness under the Franciscans.

This was a highlight in Paraguay. A really great museum with so much different Paraguayan art and culture inside. And all for free. There was so much to see and a lot of it very interesting, including the building itself which is well designed. I definitely recommend it if you like checking out museums or galleries. Some very interesting sexual art as well.

This is a good way to spend an afternoon. The kids were interested in much of the art and there is plenty to see. You might want to keep your eyes open for those pieces that are sexual in nature and steer your kids away from those unless you are looking for some interesting dinner conversation.
