There are not that many tourist attractions near Cali so if you are in the mood it is nice to go. The house is well mantained. Love the huge trees and roses! However, the landscape needs to improve. From the house you can appreciate a nice view of the valley. It is a peaceful place and it is nice to hear the river as it goes through the canals that surround the house.

A short distance away from Palmira sits Hacienda El Paraiso, a beautifully maintained house and picturesque garden heaving with roses. Formerly owned by famous author Jorge Isaacs, whose love story book "Maria" has been turned into a movie. This place is clearly beloved by locals, and indeed many travel from more distant cities on coach tours. If you aren't in for crowds, go early in the morning. The tours and all information printed and otherwise was in Spanish, which was unfortunate for me since I don't speak a word of it! That said, I greatly appreciated the beauty and grasped the romance that hung in the air of this place. I can only imagine how much more I would have enjoyed had I spoken Spanish, read the book or seen the movie. All these things are on my list to do ASAP! I understand that the tour guide did drone on a bit too long in some spots, but we slipped easily around the groups to explore at our own pace. I wish there had been a few more benches to sit at, as the house was designed well enough to afford a nice cooling breeze, but visitors were not permitted to sit on the porch benches. We sampled a few sweet wines and candies at the small shop below; and then made our way over to the gazebos outside the gardens for some refreshing traditional drinks. There is a small cafe, very small with mostly drinks and ice creams at the back of the house, and of course bathrooms. Lots of photo opportunities with pretty backdrops. I would visit again, this time armed with some Spanish to enjoy all over again.

La hacienda el Paraíso es el escenario emblema del amor entre Efrain y María que narra la novela escrita por él, "María". Éste es un lugar maravilloso, se transpira cierta paz y tranquilidad al recorrer cada espacio inhabitado pero tan lleno de historias y recuerdos de una historia de amor tan bonita como esa.En general es un destino turístico muy agradable para recorrer en pareja o familia y a la salida de se pueden encontrar fácilmente bebidas refrescantes porque el sol es fuerte.

Es un lugar mágico, muy bien cuidado, con una atención fabulosa al turista y ofrecen el servicio de fotografía con vestuario de época que permite viajar en el tiempo y disfrutar de un momento agradable y muy lúdico !!!

La Hacienda el Paraiso, fue el escenario de amor de Efrain y Maria y que Jorge Isaac inmortalizo en su novela Maria. Es necesaro recorrer la casa y sus jardines, llenos de rosas de todos los colores.Y mirar el paisaje desde el balcón de la casa es admirar en su totalidad el precioso valle con sus plantaciones.Tambien es delicioso tomarse "una lulada” es una mezcla de lulo, limón, hielo y azúcar… pero con trozos de lulo… que delicia de bebida.

Cuando has leido el libro Maria de Jorge Isaac y recorres la casa con sus jardines de rosas y oyes el río correr, te sientes compartiendo la historia.Belisimo lugar muy bien cuidado y con guias que te acompañan y cuentan la historia.Recomendado para personas de todas las edades. Facil de llegar. Se puede tomar un buss que pas por Palmira y llega a Amaine de ahí sigue en taxi hasta el cerrito.

Al inicio estábamos un poco perezos de ir es mas o menos a hora y media de cali, pero al llegar nos sentimos felices un entorno espectacular, lleno de rosales de todos los colores, unas ceibas espectaculares, la casa en excelente estado, los guías le imprimen un toque particular a su narración, un plan súper recomendado

Es una hacienda muy bonita, sus paisajes, sus jardines y la historia que se narra sobre aquella Novela de amor... Recomiendo que visiten este lugar y aprovechen y se dan la escapadita a la maloca de los vientos.

Todo me gustó en la Hacienda. aprendí muchísimo cobre la historia de la región y de la. Novela María que antes ignoraba por completo.
