We visited this beach on 21feb2015. On the day we visited there was one other group of tourists on the beach and one local surfer. The beach is beautiful with lots of rock pools. My kids spent hours "rescuing snails",chasing crabs and admiring washed up coral fans. The surf was rough on the day we were there and we made the decision that swimming would not be an option for our family, however paddleing in the surf would be just as funI will note that there are severe rip tides here. While we were preparing to leave, one of the members of the other party on the beach who was swimming got caught in the rip tide and was unable to swim in. He struggled for awhile and was going under the water more than staying above it, flailing around. While my husband and I were discussing what we should do, the local surfer who was watching with us unsheathed his board and paddled out to bring the drowning man in.It was all very dramatic and I am unsure what would have happened if the surfer had not happened to be there.A visit to this beach is worth it, but noting the previous review regarding safety of the area and the fact that the water has rip tides may make the decision to visit more difficult?

Northwest Point National Park was probably one of my favorite beaches during our visit to Provo. It is a rustic setting with pristine beaches, conch shells galore, and awesome tide pools. After an amazing beach combing afternoon with my family, we returned to our car and prepared to return to our hotel. Considering the amount of broken car window glass in the parking area, we felt that we had "dodged a bullet" in that our car windows were intact. Just prior to leaving the area, a masked man emerged from the inland mangroves and demanded that I "give him my purse." He then hit me on the head with a metal L-shaped tire iron and took my purse while I lay on the ground. He disappeared back through the mangroves in which he had initially appeared. We drove directly to the main hospital on the Leeward Highway where we were treated promptly and professionally by the hospital staff with quite a bit of compassion thrown in for good measure. The police officers that assisted us with this situation were also very professional. After receiving proper medical care (including staples to close my scalp wound), we headed back to our hotel. As stated earlier, I truly enjoyed this area of the island (pre-assault!). However, I cannot recommend venturing out to this area considering the high risk of theft and assault due to the isolated location and lack of police monitoring. Unfortunately, this also flavored the entire vacation experience for my 9-year-old who would "never go back to that island again."

We rented a condo at Northwest Point resort. If you are looking for secluded peace and quiet this is it! Long stretch of Sandy beach with plenty of walking in both directions. No other resorts are nearby, you're surrounded by a nature preserve. A big sand bar down the beach allows walking way out. Lovely water, great amenities make it a hidden gem!

Quiet and away from the crowds! While the sand is coarser here than some beaches, and there can be a lot of seaweed washed up, it's nice to just enjoy the view. There is a great view of the breaking waves on the reef far out and the turquoise water is spectacular!

More locals (poor) live in this area, and it has only dirt roads and NO food or lodging. This is a RentaCar visit, but for safety, do not go near dark, or with less than a tull tank of gas. Sketchy, with nothing great to see.

The ride was rough on a one lane path but that was okay. As we got out of our car, however, I noticed by where we parked there was a lot of broken glass. There was a car on the other side of the path that was parked and I noticed that its windows were broken on one side. Yes the beach was lovely but I did not feel I could safely leave my vehicle. You cannot enter the Northwest Point Resort unless you are a guest.

we drove a narrow, iffy road all the way to the Northwest point beach but oh it was so worth it! this beach is very quiet, we only saw two other people there which disappeared a few mins later and we had the whole beach to our selves. it had the most beautiful sunset and just all together well worth the time and travel!

This is the place to go for the sunsets ...incredible! Watching the sun go down on the water is a sight to behold. Beware the road to get there is a bit rough& its a bit far from GB but well worth the effort. This is a do not miss in Provo.

It's not as pretty as the other beaches but the isolation up there and the beach combing are worth it plus if your going the da conch shack or the like it's not much further on to see something away from loads of other tourists

If your looking for privacy and a long walk this is the way to go. Travel light dont bring alot to carry by hand. You might consider bring hiking gear, a bottle of water and a bathing suit. You can not drive a car to get to the beach. After parking its a 2 mile walk. Make sure your not in a hurry because you will have a long walk back. Good luck on that journey.
