Nice, easy downhill hike to Guane. Great views, relaxed terrain, nice finish in Guane. Takes between and hour and a half and two hours.

The walk from Barichara to Guane was absolutely beautiful! It takes about 1.5 - 2 hours, and you can wait in the Guane town square for a bus to take you back to Barichara. It took us a while to find the trail head, but you can't miss it once you do stumble upon it. I would highly recommend spending a day in Barichara and doing the Camino Real to Guane.

It was probably not sensible to walk this alone as a twisted ankle would have left you without help for hours or days. But the upside was perfect peace with fauna and trees of interest all along the way. Do stop and buy a soda from the old lady- she seemed pleased with the company. I left Barichara at nine and came back on the midday bus. I think it would be impassible in the rainy season.

Perfect length and terrain. you get to see one of the most breath taking views while getting a work out. you can do it at your own pace which makes it accessible for all fitness levels

While we visited the town Barichara we also did the Camino Real, a good 5 km trail to the smaller town Guane (we did measure the trail). It can be very hot so bring sunscreen, sunglasses, water and some kind of hat. If you start the trail at Barichara it's a lot of downhill. It took us about 1 h 20 minutes in a pretty good walking speed. We did hike back aswell and then it i a lot of uphill so it will take a bit more time. The trail is very good marked and you will walk on a lot of stones. We say people go there with only flipflops but we would recommend to do it with a regular par of sportshoes. We thought that it was perfect to do Barichara and Guana in one day and then go back to San Gil by bus. We would highly recommend this trail!
