my girlfriend is colombian and loved the experience, I am from the U.S and thought it was ok but too long a tour. always ask price before you agree to anything! a loca; will come up to you immediatly.yes it is just a normally dirty pond but it is more toomy girlfriend was driving (learning) on our way back to the hotel and we somehow were in the middle of the island and passed the sign. so we stopped. you must have a kawaski if you want the long tour not the normal golf cart very bumpy rough dirt trails. the aligators are small but cool. i liked to scare my gf by making the shuffling noise and use my hand to lightly grab at her and she screamed. very funny =)we also went to the other pond more enclosed which was different. then we went to this huge tree! that was torn down by a hurricane. that was probably my favorite. I have never scene such a giant stump and roots you could walk through. do not go to the view 7 colors of the sea or the cave! the cave with iguanas is nearly a small zoo/garden with a cave at west point! you do not need a guide for this. i like animals, and it had all the different fruit trees which was cool

I feel the locals are taking advantage of nature but destroying it. Don't wear flip flops you love as they will be brown by the time you leave. The alligators are good to see but the locals feeding them bread seems very unnatural... They hand you the bread and you have to take it then they charge you COP2,000 very common on this island.... Stop if your passing but it's noting spectacular

So our taxi driver convinced us to take the "long route" the one I would not regret for its beauty. "You won't pay me if you don't like it" he said. When we got there a lady came out of nowhere and said "I am your tour guide, I charge 3 USD for the tour per person" fine I said to myself. Then after a 1 minute walk with uninteresting references about the pond we got there, this small, Green, unhealthy and smelly puddle. "So this is it?" I asked "Yes" she answered with her 'I-don't-care attitude. The best part is that when I complined to the taxu driver and told him I would pay him because I didn't like it, as he promised, things turn a bit ugly, in summary I paid him just to get rid of any problems

The lagoon is pretty and nice and peaceful. However, I was taken their by a friend on a motorbike, if I had rented a golf cart or a bike myself and had driven there hoping to be wowed I wouldn't have been. However, I was impressed to see an alligator!! There is a little bar/canoe hire place there too, though I'd watch yourself if you went canoeing in a lagoon with alligators!
