we went out every night to the laguna. You will see Caiman & Anacondas nearby but the water is beautiful and its only about 1 1/2 meters deep so it not too bad and its all clay underneath

Very beautiful lagoon, especially around 6pm when the sun starts to set. Some of the best skies you'll see. We swam here, too, which is cool and a bit exciting considering this same water is the home of kaymans, pirañas and anacondas, but the guides know what they're doing and as long as you stay in the middle of the lagoon you will be fine. This is above all a quiet and calm area, perfect to appreciate nature and relax.

Our guide from Jamu lodge brought us here to swim at sunset, it was gorgeous. Hard to imagine that during the dry season there is no lake at all!

No discussion thats one of the magic places on earth. Thats why certain people can make a lot of money. But unfortunately not the local people to whose the land once belonged. Tourism in the way its going on there is not responsible at all. All the motorboat traffic disturbs the nature and animals. And thats because the tourists want to see attraction by attraction. No matter what the price is. Sad about whats going on in cuyabeno I visited the regional manager of the gobierno ambiental. I asked him, about responsible tourism and if cuyabeno will last like it is. He said that he even doesnt knows how it will be in ten years - the situation is out of control! So think if and with whom you wanna go there... but anyway you will disturb many beeings.

Lagun Grande is amazing! During my brilliant trip to Cuyabeno National Park, Ecuador our guide took us to Laguna Grande many times. Swimming in this lagoon is an amazing experience and one which I will never forget. Jumping off your boat into the warm, jungle waters is terrific and swimming in this lagoon is something I could do all day. The lagoon is deep in the jungle and is surrounded by nature and clear skies. You can hear the distant sound of toocans singing in the trees and occasionaly you see pink dolphins swimming by. Laguna Grande is the best place I have ever been swimming in and i'm sure i'll visit many more times in the future.

The quiet backwaters and macrolobium trees festooned with epiphytes feel like another world. The rich birdlife is an endless source of fascination. In the evening, party boats from backpacker lodges disrupt the quiet solitude of this magic place, but it's easy enough to find a secluded spot to enjoy the pristine nature.

In my reviews on Cuyabeno I raved at the quality of the reserve and claimed it to be the best Amazon Park in the world for its access by plane and road, its price and for having a network of lakes interconnected by beautiful narrow rivers and creeks. Well, the Laguna Grande is the crown jewel of the park. It is requented buy both Amazon Dolphins and Manatee. It teems with wildlife and birds, among which the mysterious Huatzin, Blue and Yellow and regular Macaws, Potoohs (enormous Night Hawk like birds) caymen, howler monkeys in the surrounding forest and the temperature is perfect for taking a dive.
