Ben's knowledge of Cetaceans and birds made the tour of his small fascinating museum and the birds that migrate to the salt ponds very interesting. It's only open when he's home but well worth checking back if you miss him the first time.

I have not been there because I can not find it. Went on their web site, looked at the map and still cannot find it. My condo is not supposed to be far at all but I have not been able to find it. Will let you know.

We stopped by the museum and met Ben's lovely wife Brenda and she gave us a tour of the small museum they have built over the years. Hopefully they are able to expand this interesting collection. The highlight was a tour with Ben of the Ecuasal lakes, a private 500 acre salt processing area which has become something of a bird sanctuary. Ben's knowledge is amazing and his passion for birds is equally great. We learned a great deal from this man who loves and protects his feathered friends. Please support this private endeavor.

Ben is the man, he has the knowledge of the wild life for this area and more. This is a small concern, and run more on faith than profit, knowledge is his currency, and Ben will pay you with that many times over.28 years a naturalist and you very quickly understand that this is his life's work. Ben will not charge you a fee for his time and exhibits, but he suggest that a donation would help.In the high season there is a restaurant in front where you can eat, low season visits are by arrangement.

We read about this small volunteer run and privately funded museum in a guide and the fortunately stumbled across while looking for things to do on our last afternoon in Salinas. It's founder Ben Hasse provided us with a personal tour replete with stories about each of the pieces we asked about. Ben has worked with a small group of volunteers to salvage, preserve., document and display whale remains on the southwest coast of Ecuador for 28 years. The organization he founded receives no government aid and only sporadic funds from outside groups and individuals. Admission is free as is the wealth of experience and information Ben shares. Donations small and large are welcomed.

Si vana ir a Salinas, no pueden dejar de ir a este museo privado, que no sólo es de ballenas, sino de otros mamíferos marinos como los delfines preservados en formol. Un lugar digno de visitar
