We went here on the city tour bus and the view made the tour worthwhile. All those beautiful red roofs. No wonder Cuenca is called the red city.

This is a good place to get a view of Cuenca and take a few pictures. There are some gift items available very close to the overlook. At the bottom of the hill is a restaurant called Fogo's (in a large building), which has good food (and a classy sports/steak house diner ambiance) and increases what you can accomplish on your trip to see the city.

We took the tour bus from Parque Calderon for the second time. This time, we intended to stay up at Mirador de Turi to explore. The plan was to take the next tour bus back. This gave us two hours to walk around. The view is spectacular and the clouds create magnificent fluffy sculptures in the sky minute by minute. We hoped to find the church open, but it was not. However, we intended to have lunch while we were waiting. This was when the real disappointment set in. To the left of the church are signs that proclaim this restaurant and that eatery. The one at the lowest level or least amount of stairs, was closed as was the shop next door. We climbed up the stairs that snake around and up some more to find a cheesy craft shop that warned against photos. Next to it was a small cafe that did not look like they had anything other than drinks and French fries. Disappointed, we climbed the stairs to the next level thinking we were going to find a real restaurant. What we found was a photographic display of old Cuenca. If we had climbed yet so more, we may have found food, but honestly it was not worth the effort. At the bottom, there was a food truck with no seating. Around the church was one little eatery that only had the local special French fries with a portion of a hot dog on top. The fries were excellent. The local stray dogs will welcome the hot dog. These were $1 each. There is some type of swing up the road that you can amuse yourself with by flying out in space, but I am not that adventurous.

The fabulous view of the whole city is worth the short ride there. Didn't really walk around much while up there, but after reading the other reviews would have stopped at Vegas house and studio.

Typical tourist point with a great view of the city and a nice leather and souvenier place but not much else.

You simply can not visit Cuenca Ecuador with out going up to Turi. It is a short cab ride from the El Centro area, or, you can take the tour bus that is available leaving from Parque Calderon. You will get a breath taking view of the entire city. And, don't forget, while up there, to take a short walk down the road to Vega's showroom. You can purchase his beautiful ceramic art work, or just browse the shop. Check out his magnificent home right next door.

The mirardor is on the double decker bus tour route but is also accessible on foot or by taxi. It's worth a trip up there to get the big picture. Stop at Eduardo Vega's ceramic workshop on the way.

Just awesome view of the city of Cuenca and the surrounding areas. Gorgeous views. There is a small souvenir shop near the top. A little in the expensive side. The tour bus will drive you up to the Mirador.

Part of the Red Bus tour (which I also recommend). Great vantage point to see the size of Cuenca with its many beautiful steeples and domes
