The gallery is located just down from the church, go down right at the turi lookout and the gallery is on the left hand side, I took the double decker bus, ($5) and spent an hour looking through the gallery and then caught the next bus back to the city centre. Vega's work is absolutely beautiful and I ended up buying four pieces of his artwork. They packaged them well for travel. They take major credit cards there. If you are looking for a quality piece of ceramic artwork, at a reasonable price, then head up to the lookout and combine a impressive veiw of the city with a some shopping. There is also a gift shop that you can visit, the one the bus company promotes, but the items are typical souvenir items and I would question their quality.

The sales person was unfriendly and not helpfully. We bought 2 ceramics but left the place disappointed

Made a return trip to Turi simply to walk the 200 yards to E Vega's gallery/workshop. Situated on the side of the mountain gave us a panoramic view of the city. There are several rooms of his pieces, including bowls, vases, mugs, and wall tiles in various sizes. The vibrant colors and designs covered local scenes, folks and fauna. Prices were not unreasonable. Stick with pieces that they can wrap up and you can carry home with you (you still have a good selection). My wife is already planning her next round of purchases. Very impressive artist!

If you like ceramics in any form - go here. Vega's work is beautiful, and so is the view from his house (he was there when we visited - due to our dire Spanish, we didn't say hello). One criticism - a lot of the stuff is not 'plane friendly' so if you want to buy anything nice (i.e. big), you'll have to have it shipped. There are some medium sized pieces that would be ok in hand-luggage - we managed it back to the UK - but these are a bit more 'touristy' and there is limited medium-sized stuff in his lovely abstract designs (we nabbed the last green / blue spotty vase though, ha! :)Good value compared to prices in UK. Taxi up the hill to Turi and back with 25 minutes waiting time - $15.

The gallery's exterior and connected home are exquisite! There is an abundance of ceramics for sale, none really to my liking, but the view out of the large picture window in the back was incredible!

My wife and I purchased a number of ceramics in early August. They arrived today, the last day of September, due to horrific customer service. Because the pieces themselves arrived intact and are so beautiful, I am giving our experience 2 stars rather than 1.The bad service began while we were in the gallery. We waited over an hour for Maria to call the post office to get us a shipping quote. We paid with our credit card and were told to expect delivery to California in 2 weeks.Three weeks later, with no delivery, I called the gallery and spoke with Maria (in Spanish). She told me that Senor Vega had been out of the country, and was the only one who could write a check (!) to pay for our shipping, but was back, and that our shipment would go out the a few days later. Two weeks later, Maria called my home and told my wife that we needed to pay $100 more to ship the pieces. I called back (as my wife doesn't speak Spanish) and Maria told me that the shipping rates had changed in (wait for it)... May, and that they had been given the wrong quote (in August) and that I had to pay another $100. When I asked why she had waited 2 weeks to call me, she told me that Senor Vega had only that day returned to Cuenca. Basically, I told Maria to ship the pieces at the price I had already paid, or to cancel the order, and that I was not happy to hear a different story every time we spoke.So... we got the pieces, but the hassle was both unpleasant and unnecessary. My advice to anyone shopping here is to take the items with you, or, if you ship, pay with a credit card (so you can dispute the charges if necessary), but only if you speak Spanish well enough to negotiate over the phone.

Not to be missed by lovers of ceramic pottery. It is also a treat, since the studio is located in a hill in the Turi area and you get a spectacular view of the city as you view Mr. Vega's ceramic designs. I bought a beautiful plate to take home. The prices were reasonable, in my opinion.

I visited Vega's Gallery and to my surprise I got to meet and chat with Mr Eduardo Vega himself. His art pieces are beautiful, the colors are vibrant and happy, his national art are pieces to have with you to remind you of your trip to Ecuador. I will return soon!
