We wanted a wine for our dinner, with a little woodsy taste and François made a suggestion that we found to be right on mark.

did not think that a small vineyard in the Eastern Townships of Quebec would rate as a slightly out of the way, tastefully presented, pleasantly informative experience. We tasted some nice wines, bought a few and never regretted.

We took their free tour and tasted 5 of their wines. Very interesting story of 2 brothers that came from the Champagne region in France and started their vineyard in Magog. We bought their Mistelle (Mistral) and their fortified wine (L'archer). Great...

Went there with a group. Visit and tasting animation was interesting (nice staff). The wines were very bad. Food buffet for our group was only ok. Soup was good. Will not return. Very disappointing. I was expecting more from Champenois owners.....

Tour includes visit to vineyard, description of methods of production. Methode Champenoise Canadian sparkling wine is rather like English sparking wines and at 20 dollars is comparable to the the big name export Champagnes you'll find in your local UK supermaket. Tasting includes white, red, sparking, aperitif and fortified dessert wines with an interesting narrative. Worth a visit, and interesting to compare to visits with similar small vineyards in France.

We enjoyed our stop here. The staff is very friendly even though our french is poor. We bought a bottle of their Mistral and a bottle of sparkling wine - both of which were delicious. Pricey but worth it!

That was anice visit. Explanations were easy and clear. Worth tasting their various wines. It is also easy to wlak there so you could see the raisins and it supports the exaoplnations of the tour.

The Vignoble le Cep d’Argent is the first winery in Quebec that we have tried. We visited it on impulse, as we needed a break from a long drive. I am familiar with wine tours, so opted instead for the standard tasting menu, five selections for 6 dollars.Since wine tastes are so individual, you can ignore my recommendations if you wish. The climate and soils of the wineries in Eastern Canada (Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia) have not in the past been conducive to good red wines, but that is now changing, and I was very impressed with the "La Réserve des Chevaliers" red wine, a mix of the following varietals -- Maréchal Foch, De Chaunac, Ste-Croix, et Frontenac. It has body and character, and I will gladly share it with my wine-loving friends. It is aged in oak barrels.I also bought the white wine "La Cuvée des Seigneurs", a blend of Seyval, New York Muscat, and Vidal varietals. Also barrel-aged, and with a nice balance of sweetness and acidity.I was less impressed with the wines that were aged in metal vats. Remember, Wood is Good.Quebec wines are not exported, as the entire production is consumed within the province. This winery has been in business for 25 years, and is one of the oldest in the province. It shows in the quality of their wines. The winery's English version of its web site is:http://www.cepdargent.com/en/Recommended.
