We spent a fascinating hour-long tour at the forge. (English or French). The young blacksmith told us about the history of the family business, and their influence on the community but more importantly he taught us about the work of a blacksmith, cartwright, and farrier. The best part was that he was able to demonstrate the blacksmithing. The forge is operating and he showed us how it worked and how M. Cauchon was clever and adapted the bellows by attaching a motor. The upstairs of the building is the Cartwright shop with all the tools still is place.There are picnic tables near the parking lot for the forge, along the Malbaie river. They also sell small hand forged items that the smithy makes himself. In fact he made a small tool (made to measure) for my husband while we waited.

Nous avons apprécié cette visite qui nous a permis de découvrir un métier que nous ne connaissions pas beaucoup. Par contre, nous avons trouvé que la présentation était très "appris par coeur" et pas beaucoup de place pour en déroger, même si on était les seuls visiteurs (couple). Nous le recommandons quand même. Visite d'une heure

La visite guidée était tout simplement exceptionnelle par les détails intéressants sur les métiers de forgeron et de menuisier tels qu'ils se pratiquaient au début du siècle.

Pour 5$ par adulte, la visite permet de voir un forgeron au travail. Le jeune homme sait transmettre sa passion.
