Many years ago when passing this attraction on the main highway we thought by the name it was possibly an indoor bicycle track. We did go in.Went in again this year. It is an interesting work of art. Not sure if i would call it great. Worth seeing as it is unusual and different and clearly took a considerable amount of talent and work to give the image it does to accomplish.

I'm not sure how else to put this; the Cyclorama de Jerusalem is an amazing attraction, but in an odd way. While the building itself doesn't feel like it's been updated since 1950, the painting itself and the explanation that goes with it are worth the money. There's an audio description of the painting that runs alternately in French and English which also points out interesting elements of the painting. A visit only takes 10 - 15 minutes, but is worth it.

While walking from the parking lot towards Sainte Anne de Beaupre, we passed in front of the Cyclorama, which aroused our curiosity. We had no idea what to expect, but decided that, being we were there, to check it out. Wow, we were so glad we did. It was unlike any exhibit we have ever seen of this nature, and much more interesting than Sainte Anne de Beaupre.Although there is an admission charge of $9.00 for adults, we felt it was well worth it. After entering the building, you walk up some stairs to a circular viewing area where you stand in the center of a panoramic 3D-like painting, which depicts the crucifixion of Jesus in Jerusalem. In addition to Jesus, the French artists included many of the buildings, the crosses, soldiers, and Roman citizens. A continuous running audio tape guides you through the painting, with each area that is being talked about lit up to point you to the proper location on the painting. The painting is so lifelike that you feel as though you are actually present.It's remarkable that the painting was made so long ago (late 1800s) and still looks so good. Very unique and interesting - worthwhile seeing.

This huge painting was done in the 1800's on a single canvas it surrounds you in the cyclorama. It is a painting of the day of the crucifixion in Jerusalem in 33 AD. The details are astounding. There is a continuous narration in French or English (you tell them your language). You would think that the painting was 3D but it is not. Really worth taking the time to see.

This should not be miss ,It's on the property of ST Anne-de-Beaupre.This painting is in a surround setting.It's one continuing picture that looks like 3d.I have never seen anything like this.like a living museum.You can stay as long AS YOU WANT.priced reasonably.take the whole family.

Much of Quebec seems caught, in an appealing way, in the 1950s or 1960s. But the next attraction we visited clearly went back further. The Ste.-Anne-de-Beaupre Cyclorama of Jerusalem, housed in a mock temple, has been on exhibit since 1895. We couldn’t resist. Climbing the stairway to the viewing platform, we were treated to a 360-degree panorama, covering 1,540 square meters, depicting Jerusalem and the surrounding countryside at the time of Christ’s crucifixion. Here were nomads on camels; over there were the city walls surrounding colonnaded Roman buildings; further around were three young women (one with a bare breast!) apparently taking a break from the heat; and, of course, there was Calvary, with Christ and the two other condemned men on their crosses, Roman soldiers standing by. The message of this work by French panoramist Paul Philippoteaux and his five assistants, who completed the work in Munich between 1878 and 1882, seems to be that life in Jerusalem was going on pretty much as usual on that day.

My husband and I were completely blown away by this colossal 3D-effect painting. Just for a comparison, we have visited famous museums in Italy and were equally impressed by the cyclorama. We are surprised that it is not well known! I learned that it is one of the world's largest panoramic paintings, 45 ft high, 360 ft in circumference! It was completed in the late 1800's by an artist who wanted to paint a realistic depiction of life in ancient Jerusalem. He created a masterpiece!We stood in the center of the painting and as we gazed across the full 360-degrees we felt transported back in time, surrounded by walls, temples, palaces and market places. Instantly, we felt as if we really were milling around with the crowds in the streets. Very cool! The audio-tour is very interesting, particularly because it points out the historically accurate places (King Herod's palace, for example).This is a must-see attraction! Note: At the time of our visit, it was very hot in the building and there were stairs to climb.
