A bit pricey. We saw lots of belugas and 3 whales. Unforgetable. People in Zodiacs near us were frozen. Much better on a big boat like this.

Tuesday the 22nd of July 2014, the 9:30am cruiseThe Bogeyman CruiseCould it be that some tragic incident in AML's past is responsible for the crew's bizarre and unpleasant behaviour?From the start, the Naturalist (whale-watching guide) warns us that the ship is built like the Titanic, unsinkable. We are perplexed.Our Naturalist follows up with such gems as :- This boat is not a daycare!-You, the parents, you made those kids, you're responsible for them, not us!-If you fall in the water, we don't come to get you, you are dead! The water is at 5 celsius, there are currents that will pull you under and there are sharks. You are dead! (Sorry for the grammar, he is from France)-Children, if you climb on the railings or the benches, I tell you, you will spent the rest of the trip downstairs, you will not see whales, and that's it.At that point, we are all laughing, right?... Not. Everybody is looking at each other, dumbfounded. The little boy next to us, already fearful when he got on board, is now in tears and as white as a beluga. It seems neither him nor his family found it funny.With all these horror stories, what they neglected to tell us was that it might be forbidden, imprudent or dangerous to lift a child in our arms or hoist them on our shoulders. We found out anyway, later...When we found whales, Mylord Naturalist, confortably installed at the front of the ship, made sure it was always pointing towards the whales. Only those at the front could see anything. Naturally, a few parents lifted their child in their arms. Woe befell them : they were taken to task over the loudspeakers, and told they were crazy! The childen were swiftly set down, but the man who dared point out afterwards that he had been standing 2 meters from the railings was threatened by the second mate to be met by the police on return to the port. On the whole, this stressed-out, unpleasant naturalist with no tolerance for tourists or children should take a vacation, or let someone who likes working with people take his place.And we're not even getting into the complete lack of any further communication during the 90 minute return trip, the paucity of information on the magestic creatures we went out to observe, on the landscape or the spectacular lighthouse on the Prince reef, the rude manner in which the naturalist manhandled a young woman who was standing in his way, the high pitched, annoying background noise emitting from the loudspeakers most of the time and finally, the complete lack of signs posting the real safety instructions...If there were any competition in Rivière-du-Loup for whale-watching cruises, Croisières AML's dismissive attitude towards its clients would surely sink it...It seems AML is confident that its foreign clientele is sufficiently captive to fill its ships and its coffers without needing to charm them or to please the Quebec or Canadian public. They don't care about the clients. Good luck to them, next year, we'll go to Tadoussac or somewhere else.

More than 150 people paying a strong fee to go and watch for whales which just aren't there this year. We did see some Belugas and 2 Minke whales but overall not a good result. Whales have gone elsewhere - not the result in the photos, at all!!!!I was shocked at the lax & lazy safety protocol - nearly non-existent.The naturalist caters to the French but nearly ignores doing a repeat in English. The English versionof what is said is about 1/4 what the French hear.Other locations for this pursuit may pay more attention to customer satisfaction & to safety - not sure. This is 3.5 hours...departing promptly at 9:30 and again for an afternoon session. Wear very warm clothing as the wind on the water does cool you way, way down. Make sure your camera is on a strap. Not for young children. Most of the staff just stand around - only one naturalist. Should be 3 spotters for this size group

Arrivés debut septembre à RDL avec mes parents, nous sommes allés nous renseigner à la pointe pour faire une croisière. A l'accueil, la jeune femme nous avertit que le départ pouvait être annulé en raison de la période creuse, peu de clients. Finalement, nous avons embarqué avec une 30aine de personnes. Le bateau "zephyr" etait parfait pour ma mère qui n'a pas le pied marin. Contrairement aux avis que j'ai pu lire, nous avions de la place et personne ne se bousculait pour prendre des photos. Merci la fin de saison ! De plus les bélugas étaient en nombre, quelques minutes seulement après notre départ ! Vers Tadoussac, nous avons observés des baleines a bosses, des petits rorquals, rorquals communs ... Le personnel etait souriant. Le guide, très professionnel, repondait a nos questions. Nous avons aimé cette croisière, meme si elle fut un peu longue.

Pour les amateur de plein air et de faune aquatique, cette activité est une expérience en soit.Bonne narration des consigne de sécurité au démarrage et qui fut tout au long du parcours, pondéré de commentaires intéressant sur les iles environnantes les marées et la navigation sur le fleuve St-Laurent.La ou ca se complique légèrement, c'est à l'apparition des premières baleines.Le navire qui contient plus ou moins 200 personnes avec des téléphones intelligent (ce qui ne fait pas d'eux des gens nécessairement intelligent) se bouscules pour avoir la plus belle image de leurs voyage. Les enfants pleurs parce qu'ils ne voit rien et les plus costaux nous bouscule pour se frayer un chemin. mais avec de la patience on fini par apercevoir le mastodonte.j'ai bien aimer mon expérience mais si c'était a refaire je partirait de Tadoussac en Zodiac pour apprécier la proximité de l'expérience

En soi, la prestation est correcte, le guide est bilingue français-anglais et fait le job, les bateaux sont en bon état et il est possible de boire coup sur le bateau.Seulement on passe la plus part de son temps à se rendre dans une zone à baleines, le reste du temps pas grand chose à voir, et lorsqu'on arrive finalement sur site, on se retrouve avec plusieurs autres navires à traquer les baleines...rien de terriblement excitant, je recommande plutot les formules d'observation depuis les îles ou, si vous avez peu de temps, depuis un petit navire, type zodiac.

La balade en bateau pour pur des baleines devait durer environ 3h30.Après plus de deux heures,quelques phoques et marcoins mais pas de baleine. Le bateau nous dit que les baleines sont plus loin et que l'on va en voir (honnêtement,très sceptique).mais nous les avons bien vu,d'assez prêt pour prendre des photo avec smartephone.nous avons tourné un peu de temps avec elles.si vous êtes patients,je recommande. Bilan,nous avons passe une heure de plus sur l'eau mais honnêtement,ça vaut le coup.Boissons (payantes) a l'intérieur du bateau près apreciable pour se réchauffer quand on a pas pris assez (oui,il fait assez froid dehors lorsque le bateau avance...normal)Dernier bémol,un peu trop de monde sur le bateau. Ça n'empêche pas la vu mais il n'y a pas trop de place.
