My partner and I went on a sleigh ride at Equitation Jacques Robidas through Manoir Hovey, the hotel that we were staying out for the weekend. I take it that a sleigh ride is the smallest of the services they provide – most people were there to learn how to ride horseback at a very elementary level.Even though this is relatively close to the town of North Hatley, the trails that both the sleigh ride and the horse riding went through were very picturesque and pleasant. There's basically no development around this area.Overall, not a bad place to learn to ride or to refresh your skills on snow grounds. The service was friendly but a bit brisk.

There is nothing more magical than a sleigh ride in the woods after a fresh snowfall. Even the horses seem to love it. Mr. Robidas is a wonderful, bilingual, kind and informative man and he obviously cares a great deal about his horses. The horses are real characters. They know the sleigh ride "routine" so well that they stop automatically at certain spots along the trail until Mr. Robidas has said what he wants to (about the trees, the sugar bush, the animals...), before they move on, sometimes at a leisurely amble, sometimes at a trot. It is an amazing experience, for children, for adults, for city people, and especially for friends from the Caribbean or the Southern USA who haven't experienced snow before. Reservations are essential.

Our thirteen year old granddaughter loves riding, but does not have the opportunity to go very often. She spent two mornings with Jacques, and his instruction and guidance were unlike any she has experienced in the past. He gave her a sense of what it is to be one with the horse, and I believe she saw that riding can be as natural as walking. Jacques could write a book on Zen and the art of horseback riding.

Nous avons effectué une magnifique promenade au plus près de la nature. Même sans être un cavalier émérite, même si l'on n'a jamais monté on peut profiter de ce magnifique centre équestre. Un immense merci à Mr Robidas qui démontre un immense respect pour les chevaux. Tout est fait en douceur, tout est fait pour que les chevaux ne soient pas stressés.La balade se fait dans un environnement splendide

Nous avons fait une randonnée de 1h30 au Centre d'équitation de Jacques Robidas. Lors de notre réservation, il nous a été demandé quelles étaient nos attentes, nos expériences à cheval ainsi que notre taille et notre poids. Dès cet instant, nous savions que c'était un endroit sérieux avec un excellent encadrement. A notre arrivée, on nous a fait essayé des bombes et très fortement incités à ne pas garder sur nous ce qui pourrait entraver la sécurité: bouteille d'eau, sac à dos, etc. Nous avons sommairement brossé les chevaux pour débuter la relation puis avons fait quelques tours de manège pour maîtriser les techniques de direction collaborative utilisée dans ce centre. La randonnée dans les bois environnants étaient très agréable et s'est terminé par un petit trot. Jacques a vraiment pris le temps de corriger nos postures et mouvements tout au long de la randonnée. Il sait détecter les personnalités et limites des cavaliers dès les premiers exercices. C'est un centre exemplaire qui prend un soin soucieux de ses chevaux.

Que vous soyez un habitué des chevaux ou non, je pense qu'ils ont le type de cheval qui vous conviendra. Une randonnée agréable et bien orchestrée. De bonnes informations données au départ font que vous ne regrettez pas votre investissement. Une belle expérience.
