Project Canadian Malartic had two sections. The Malartic Mine Museum and the new Osisko Mining Complex. Very educational, they let you have first hand on how mining was started and we can now take bus tours to actually go on the site to see how mining is done & distributed. You are able to see first hand the machinery used and the guide lets us near them and describes to us how and what they are used for. We get to go inside one of the what it looks like a very large warehouse where the machinery is and explains to us how "gold bars" are done. The best was to see the open pit with all the machinery. The museum itself is quite beautiful and they will be expanding it quite soon where it will have a restaurant, a library, lots of minerals to see and buy. You may bring a camera, the guide will tell you what you can photograph and what you are not allowed. You need walking shoes, no open toe shoe. It is approximately three hours for the bus tour but then there is also the museum you can explore afterwards. I found it to be a "fantastic visit". The tours by the way are in both French and English, but when you book for the visit you let them know ahead of time as to whether you want the tour to be in English or in French.
