Not the choice provider for going whale watching in les Escoumins since it involved taking a bus to get to the dock.(Only one whale watching tour operator in les Escoumins has on-site parking where you can walk down to the dock.)The facilities of this operator were an eyesore. There is no excuse for having a parking lot so untidy.Whales were in abundance though... so next time i would be more careful in choosing which operator to take!!!!

First I’d like to give a big thanks to the staff. When we arrived for our afternoon tour, we were told they had been cancelled because the water was too rough. They told us spots were still available for the next morning, but we said we were taking the ferry from Les Escoumins to Trois-Pistoles in the morning. They then informed us that the ferry had not been running all week because of mechanical problems and was unlikely to be working by morning. They suggested another ferry a little further east, and even cancelled our original ferry reservation and got us booked on the new one. We were able to take the whale watching tour the next morning, catch the other ferry and be on the Gaspe Peninsula only an hour later than planned. Without all this, we probably would have been at the dock the next morning, wondering why there was no ferry, and wondering how we would get across. So again, thank you very much!We arrived the next morning for our tour, and were fitted with big warm jackets and water proof pants. There were also hats and gloves available, but we didn’t take any and we were quite comfortable on the water. After a short bus ride to the docks, we boarded our zodiac. Our captain was bilingual. Much of what he said was in French, but that was expected as out of twelve passengers my wife and I were the only two who didn’t speak French. He still pointed out many things in English, and answered any questions we had. Shortly after leaving the dock we saw a small group of belugas. A while later we saw the spout from a hump-back whale. Finally, around the middle of our tour, we came across a fin whale. The captain said they can only stay submerged for 7 to 8 minutes, so we stayed around for 30 minutes or so to see him surface several times, spouting water each time and then diving again with a flip of his tail. Pretty much everything you could hope for in a two-hour tour.We had been told at our B&B in Montreal that the tours are better in Les Escoumins because they aren’t so “touristy”. I don’t know about that, but after our experience I can say that you will receive great service with Les Ecumeurs du St-Laurent!

Great people very kind, trully interesting. Much better being in a small zodiac instead of a big boat. You want to see Wales, go to les écumeurs. They are terrific!

Three adults and two four year olds went out with this company in July 2013. We had a fantastic time. The water was bumpier than I had experienced before but it was part of the fun. Our four year old grandson loved it.We were fortunate enough to see a beluga and a minke whale, and a seal. The highlight though was spending time watching not one but two humpback whales. Great experience and one the kids will not quickly forget. This is the second time we have gone on a whale watching cruise with this company and again we loved it.Well worth every penny.

We went last summer at the beginning of whale watching season. The price was very good due to the fact that most of the boats gather in the Tadoussac area of the river to view the whales, which was a half hour drive by car so just imagine the time it would take by boat. I understand that since we were so far in from the touristy areas, English wasn't as prominent as in other places and it was a bit of a barrier, The lady said the driver spoke both languages but during our trip, non was spoken. Some people would be upset, but it gave me a chance to brush up on my French (which I found out was very very poor). We were able to see whales, but it did take a half hour or so before we spotted any. It's hard to blame the company since the whole experience revolves around animals that have their own schedule. To get straight to the point, you get what you pay for. It was a great experience and breathtaking. Each tour company offers a minimum 3 hour tour and the price reflected the time spent with the whales. Cheaper price, longer ride, less time with whales. Get a company in town, pay more get more time. That's just an honest review. I didn't mind the longer drive by car or boat because the views are amazing all around. DO NOT take the highway on the south side of the river if you're coming from Quebec City unless you are willing to pay a pricey ferry ride across the river. Plus the views of the drive from the north side are worth the slightly longer drive. I would go back and we plan to next time we visit Quebec City. If you've never seen whales before, you won't be disappointed.
