You have to go down a dirt road to get to it but this is a beautiful secluded lighthouse. You won't be disappointed.

It was quite an adventure to reach this lighthouse via steep dirt road that seemed endless (Truly only about 6 kms long!). We had our pop-up tent and it sure was a real adventure! The lighthouse has been kept up quite nicely as you can see in our pictures. This is the first Canadian marine station of the Marconi wireless Telegraph system, established in 1904. It was worth the trek, even with a trailer!

Something of a surprise at the end of a gravel road. Meticulously maintained historic site, with amazing view. Friendly staff, though with limited English -- though this does not reflect on them, but rather me. The gift shop is great: local knitting and embroidery, no Chinese souvenir crap. Young foxes roam the grounds, looking for a hand-out. Nice, newly constructed board walk trail through the forest to a gazebo look out (trees need a trim here to show off the view).

First you have go over a 4km-long gravel road. The lighthouse and the house next door are just lovely. We decided to follow the tour (6 CAD pp for only the lighthouse, 10 CAD if you also want the Marconi house). We thought it would only take a little while, but they have kept us busy about an hour.First we got to see a movie about the history of the lighthouse. Totally awesome! Really really nicely done, and very interesting. After that we got a tour of the house (which is a reconstruction), and the lighthouse, also really interesting. Totally awesome as there is so much invested in such a remote lighthouse.

We visited this site and paid $10 per person to see the Marconi Museum and the lighthouse. Unless you pay for a guide at this price, you are unable to enter these buildings as they lock them and only the guides have the key. Though our guide was very nice, none of the guides spoke English. We were left to read the displays on our own, while the guide provided details to the other visitors in French. We spent over one hour at the site but most of the time was spent waiting for our guide. I understand that we are in Quebec where French is spoken and I don't mind paying for a guide if the guide provides some information, but really they should just call it an entrance fee or advise that the guide does not speak english prior to us paying the guide fee. Though the Marconi museum is interesting, and the view was nice, definitely, not worth the price. Also note that it takes 4kms on a dirt road to drive into this property and it has many steps. On the day we had visited, the steps were wet and two ladies ahead of us had bad falls down the stairs, so be careful if going.
