We were on a bus tour and this is one of our stops. Apparently this family are the last crafters of their kind. The daughter of the original and famous artist gave the presentation which includes a short demonstration of copper work. You can then browse the art and of course purchase anything from a copper mirror to jewelry. Its very pretty and nicely displayed. The demonstration was very interesting and I loved that it is a family business run by all women family members of the original artist.

The late Albert Gilles did a lot of work for the Catholic Church in Québec, including the gorgeous doors and other copper, gold, and silver work found at the Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré cathedral. Gilles was originally from France, and learned his craft from an aunt there. He took the techniques himself into the domain of fine art.The Albert Gilles Copper Art & Museum is run mainly by his widow, daughters and other female relatives of the Gilles family. It is a showcase of how Albert Gilles' family has carried on with his stunning artistry, with many beautiful works now produced by his family for sale in their expansive store.Visitors can even try their hand at making their own copperwork memento. This popular attraction is well worth a stop.

Our bus tour made a stop here. I was amazed to see the beautiful art this family has done for many years. They had large pieces as well as jewelry to sell. They even did a short demo. Then off to see St ann's church where we saw the amazing copper doors that the father had done. Truly a talented family. Worth the trip.

This was an escorted tour organised by our tour operator, we were given 2 hours to have a guided tour then time in the shop. As an engineer I found this a bit off putting as I could not see anywhere they do the copper work in the area we were in . The only display was done by the older daughter of the founder and that was on a small piece of thin copper about 75 mm square. I was hoping to see some real ongoing work . I looked at some of the mirrors on display and to me they looked mass produced and not handmade as they were too indentical . It was worth the visit if in the area.

Came after going to Beaupre and seeing the copper work there. Such an interesting and beautiful "art". The displays in the rear of the gallery were amazing. Definitely a talented family. Love the small piece that we purchased

The Cote de Beaupre is a short drive out of Quebec City. We stopped here as part of our little trek out to drive the Chemin du Roi, the route of old France. Albert Gilles is part of the economusee network of Canada. The economusee have artisans on site and work shops/ museums that are open to the public. There is no fee. Come in and enjoy the beautiful copper creations for sale and admire the art and history on view in the tiny museum.

Our tour bus made a quick stop to view the art work of Albert Gilles and the copper technique passed down to the relatives. His daughter gave the presentation and history and we were then free to tour the museum. Interesting designs and art.

We were pleasantly surprised by our visit here, especially when we found out that the doors to the Cathedral in town were made by the founder of this museum. His wife and family still run the museum and continue to produce amazing works of art in copper. I bought some lovely jewelry here and enjoyed the presentation of how they go about creating their artwork.

This stop was/is part of a tour of the countryside, the work is beautiful and the presentation is interesting. However, this is one of many stops on a half day tour of the countryside which dampens the impact ( at least it did for us) It was interesting to see how the pieces are made and to explore the museum, but again there are simply too many stop on this tour so you can't really spend the time that is needed and that should be spent.

What a nice surprise stop on our tour of attractions outside of Quebec City. Cuivres D' Art has the most amazing copper artwork and pieces I have ever seen. Albert Gilles, the founder was born in Paris and mastered the art of sheet metal embossing. He has done work for many churches across North America. He has left a beautiful legacy for his daughters and family to continue his work with copper. There is a museum and a short tour about the place and Albert Gilles. It is so interesting how they make the copper pieces and the amount of time and patience it takes. There are many pieces for sale at very reasonable prices. I never expected to see so much copper artwork in one place.
