The ferry ride over is somewhat terrifying - a 2-car ferry that is propelled solely by river power. Hard to explain, but you really should experience it. The road up to Stein Valley is wonderfully scenic - you feel like you're in the Old West. Once at the trail head there are picnic tables, a fire pit and an outhouse. The trail is lovely and quite easy - our 4 year old had no problem. Keep an eye on small kids as there are a couple of spots that get dangerously close to the raging Stein River below. The Petroglyphs are somewhat disappointing in that you can't really make anything out (seems to be our experience whenever we've seen petroglyphs) but for historical significance, they are pretty cool. Overall I would highly recommend this hike. Go as far as you like (you can even hike the entire valley and come out the other side if you have about 3 days to spare).

Your adventure in the Stein Valley starts at the Lytton Reaction Ferry ...quaint little two car ferry that you need to take to cross the river. Lots of great scenery along the hike, with some interesting places like Asking Rock along the trail.

The Stein Valley has beautiful Hiking trails and gorgeous scenery. A ride over on the Lytton Reaction Ferry and a good driving directions will bring you to a bit of a rough road and the parking area for wilderness camping and hiking. Be prepared as the Park is very large and remote. One can go for a picnic and day hike or camping. The area is home to a lot of wild life, including black bear, Grizzly bears, cougars, wolves, wolverines, dear, elk and many other species.Several of the trails can be steep and rugged. For detailed information, check with BC Parks before venturing off into this beautiful wilderness area~

We waren per ongeluk verkeerd gereden helemaal naar Serton Potage bc op en neer 14% hellingen.Eigenlijk mochten we hier met de RV (achteraf) niet komen, maar het was de reis waard.Het is wel een heftige afdaling, zeker niet voor iedereen aan te raden.
