Tunkwa is just epic in the fall. The fishing is still good despite the weather closing in. Snow on the mountains makes for a very tranquil experience.

Great area to see wildlife... we saw a lot of deer, coyotes, and for the first time ever cougar. Lots of people road hunting, and quite a few fishing. More cattle than i have ever seen in one area, lots of ranches, especially as you head up to Savona

The campground it very spacious with lots of room for everyone. There are pit toilets but no washrooms. Fill your water prior to going as the hand pump will not fill your water tank. The lake has lots of weeds and is not good for swimming, dogs get covered in leaches. We would definitely go back just be prepared for all kinds of weather.
