My children LOVE this museum! It is fairly priced and we all love that it is okay to TOUCH almost everything. It is a wonderful spot to go with children of all ages. And adults can enjoy learning about local industry.

This is a large museum where you can spend hours exploring. There is lots of hands on activities, exhibits and a gift shop. Plenty of staff around to explain about the artifacts, exhibits and machines. It is a great place to explore and learn about coal mining, transportation and crafting in early NS. Well worth a visit.

We stopped here with out six year old son during a family trip. I had driven by this place many times before and hadn't taken the time to stop......boy was I missing out! Our son had a wonderful time as did my husband and I. There are lots of hands on portions to the exhibits so it held my sons interest much longer than a typical museum would. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of exhibits. I would definitely visit again.

We only had two hours or so to see this museum, and just about fitted it in! Good interactive displays plus quite a few items we had never seen in the UK. Also a WW1 special exhibition, and the tale of local coal mining. There are staff around to ask questions of, and they were very welcoming and helpful.

This museum is a great representation of industry in Nova Scotia. Even better is that it has a variety of interactive displays for young (and old!!).

What a great time my boys had here. The train was a huge hit, along with the water exhibits. The crane was new since we last visited, and it was hard getting the kids to take turns. Lots of information and sites to see for my wife and I as well. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Only wish there was a place to eat inside, but we found an area restaurant to grab lunch. Great way to spend a day!

We had a less than pleasant experience with one staff member on the admissions counter. She was on the phone when we arrived, fair enough, so we waited and wandered close by in the gift shop, never straying far from the desk. Then as she put the phone down it rang again and instead of seeing to us she took the call and talked on and on, in chatting mode without trying to bring an end to the call and without any apology towards us. We continued to wait. Then after a few minutes we decided we would pay her on the way out and began to walk towards the start of the exhibits. At this point she certainly did notice us, indeed she banged on the desk with her finger to indicate we should not move on without paying. But still she did not pause the call. We waited a little more and eventually she put the phone down. Her brief apology was spoiled by a "but I had to take the call" really? It sounded like a social call to us. She was distinctly unfriendly towards us from then onwards. She spoke to us like naughty children (we are in our fifties) and made us feel as if we had done something wrong. This clouded the museum visit. The museum was fun, the displays eclectic and clearly aimed at children but none the less fun for an adult. The sawmill demo was great. Sadly we don't ever want to meet the rude receptionist. (July 18th if you are the manager and want to know which lady)

Have been to this museum a couple times, but the most recent trip has stuck in mind. While the museum is packed with wonderful displays and information, it also has nifty temporary exhibits as well. Great for the kids during March Break. However, I've noticed that a lot of the displays no longer function - such as the computers in the 'updated technology' section, and a lot of the buttons that used to light up/turn on different machines by the Michelin tires. While the museum is still fun to go to, its technology (and videos) needs to be updated, and the computer section needs to either be fixed so that it functions, or updated with technology from the 2000s.

We loved the museum. The guides were friendly, well informed and competent. If you really want to absorb all the museum has to offer plan for half a day.

The museum is a very hands on display of evolution of industry. The guides were thoroughly knowledgeable about how things worked and seemed to go out of their way to make it both an informative and enjoyable visit. There were plenty of demonstrations as well as hands on exhibits for kids to appreciate.
