i'm kind of biased living .5 km outside the gate. it is a gorgeous walk during any season. watch for deer, birds, bunnies and snakes( we brake for snakes). park gates closed in winter but you can park there and walk in(free). aprox 1 km to lake, or 5 km to walk all around park. nice camping limited services. small store mainly treats, and prov. park swag. sunrise from the bluff is gorgeous!

Large treed and private campsites are available in this park. Staff are knowledgeable on the local wildlife and fona. Just minutes from a friendly town with quaint shops and eateries as well as golfing, birding, boating or just relaxing.

I live in the area and my wife and I often take long walks through the park mostly in the spring, fall and winter. A variety of trails makes for interesting hiking. The camping areas look good with many great views of the surrounding marsh. The picnic area located along the shores of Lake Erie are awesome. I personally have not camped here for many years but the facilities seem very adequate but tenting can be bad when it rains as many lots are clay based with minimal grass areas. There is lots of wildlife to see with birds of all description, deer and heaps of squirrels. We love the park.

We stopped in Wheatley Provincial Park for a picnic lunch on our way to Point Pelee. We didn't spend time in the camping area nor use any facilities. We did have a lovely picnic on the shore of Lake Erie on the cliff overlooking the beach. It was a beautiful spot and a very different coastline than we saw at Point Pelee. It was windy - so we were glad we had brought jackets! There is a fee for day use of the park but it is minimal and certainly goes to a good cause - maintaining this beautiful spot.

This is our second time camping at this park. We found the restroom cleanliness to be greatly improved compared to our last visit - showers and bathrooms were very clean. Great park for "off the ground" camping but if you're in a tent, beware...clay soil prevents drainage and you can be flooded out in a rain storm. There are a lot of people who manage to spend their entire summer at this park, by moving their trailers every 21 days, so it has a bit of a seasonal feel. The waterfront is beautiful, grassy, about 10 feet about the water. Trails down lead to sandy beaches. Lots of restrooms and picnic tables down by the beach.

Went here for my first camping trip with the brand-new RV. Great place to go camping. Keep in mind with provincial Parks you do not get water on your site however if you book an electrical site you get 15 or 30 amp service and it typically is very close to where your RV would be. To get water there is a cleanout station with freshwater just inside the camp registration area.Stayed near water on the southside. Rather swampy. Tremendous number of mosquitoes. The comfort stations were extremely well-maintained and very clean.Beach is excellent for walking and well as swimming in the water.

We camped here for the first time this summer and it was a great place for our young family! We stayed in the Boosey area and it was really nice and quiet. The beach was nice - never crowded because there is so much room and the water was fairly warm for a big lake. Our kids loved all the driftwood on the beach. You can also fish in the lake or rivers in the park which my husband and son liked. The park by the beach is great for kids. The bridges over the creeks are fun. If I had one complaint it would be the spiders... there are lots but I guess that just comes with the territory. Overall a great park in a nice area and we will be back some day!

Good park but some issues. First the bad stuff: there were too many small smelly pit toilets around, and some Go Hut types too. I would sooner pee in the woods and take a fine than use those stink pits. Too many noisy drinking nights too. A lot of campers are hooting and hawlering at night and the Ranger doesn't seem to spot these things. Also, there were an number of security warning signs at the office, which might suggest too much crime at some time? The good parts are: very nice natural camping area set in mixed forest and some beautiful oaks.Staff is helpful, and the wash-rooms are ok but not great. There were at lease two plumbing issues which shut down some faucets. This sort of thing should be taken care of during the off season. Maintenance level in the park should be higher, it has a overused and beaten feel to it.Travel with your GPS to this park, as the sign on the 401 are non-existant and even worse on the back roads. There was one sign for this part 250 meters from the entrance. Good park overall. My rating is: 7.5 / 10

We took a drive through to check this place out. It looks like a nice place to camp. The beach area is really nice. When I have more time I would like to come back.
