Great little spot, friendly and down to earth staff, and awesome beer! There is all sorts of extra touches that make this place so special - on top of being super environmentally friendly and focusing on natural ingredients they have all sorts of great collaborations with charities and local businesses, which makes the experience so much more enjoyable. I'm impressed every time I hear about a new cause they are supporting or a new collaboration they are working on. Keep up the good work, you guys are definitely making Ottawa proud!

Great group of people work there and make your visit enjoyable, always! We definitely have our favourite beer (Lug Tread), but they always have free samples of new kinds available and tours as well.

Situated in the quaint town of Vankleek Hill, Beau's remains one the best microbreweries in Ontario. Most will recognize their trademark Lug Tread, but they offer a wide assortment of seasonal brews.Staff are laid-back and welcoming, ready to talk in detail about their magical potions. One can feel the slower pace of life in this happy little world, which is refreshing. The store, bar and tour are all together in a manageable hockey arena-sized facility, very little walking. In the summer, there is also an outdoor patio.Strangely enough, the tour was not conducted by a Beau's employee, but rather a guy pitching his company (which offers tours of three breweries in the Ottawa/Eastern Ontario region). One gets up close to the tanks and is offered an explanation of the brewing process. Pretty standard, if not short microbrewery tour. After the 20-minute tour, one can have shot glass samples from the bar, and full pints are $5. I like this setup, as it eliminates those looking for a free happy hour and enables the more seasoned to explore and appreciate their diverse menu without the obnoxious fratboy types that dominate many 'free' tours.Really enjoyed the Kissmeyer Pale Ale with its balanced hops, a nice palate. Another favorite was the Dark Helmut, which tastes like a roasted, malty black lager, very smooth. Not normally a big fan of stouts, but the Tom Green was not too heavy with a rich chocolate coffee flavor. DOA Hardcore - a fitting tribute to the Vancouver punk rockers - goes down pretty easy for an 8.1% lager. While their marketing is offbeat and clever, their beer is sold in 600ml bottles only, and priced well above other microbreweries. $24 for a 4-pack at the LCBO is rather steep, on par with bar prices. Would love to see more products available year-round and in 500ml cans.Note: Since 2009, Beau's have hosted an annual Oktoberfest the first weekend in October, which has grown into a terrific event. Besides the great lineup of alternative acts and beer workshops, one can test out over a dozen seasonals never seen by the public.

excellent experience. First time in the 8 years the fest has been running. Good family time. Lots for all to do. Looking forward to next year.

Staff and service is great. Free tour and tastings and their branding is awesome. They have alot of merchandise for sale as well as some bottles. Wasnt all that impressed with their beers, I found that their darker beers were the best when we were there.

The beers alone stand for themselves with great tastes and always surprising seasonal flavours. This Brewery goes beyond and contributes to the local community and the city of Ottawa time and time again with various events and their promotion of helping people with jobs. They are very knowledgeable about many beers and the market. I've attended a few of their educational classes hosted at the annual Oktoberfest event held near their brewery in Vankleek Hill, Ontario. I discovered a love for nordic ales which I've never had the opportunity to try before. The brewery tour isn't very impressive, so I wouldn't do a solo drive all the way out there, but if you happen to be driving nearby (between Ottawa and Montreal), take a detour and check it out. They also sell some fashionable merchandise. Recommend for adults -- not children for obvious reasons.

Stopped into Beau's on a rare trip to Eastern Ontario - and partly because my guy waxes poetically about Beau's Lugtread and has done so for years. So I bought him a t-shirt and some beer glasses while there. All were very reasonably priced. I was taking the train back to Toronto so couldn't haul away the beer...plus the price is the same as at the LCBO. Staff were friendly, the tastings were excellent and Beau's Brewery has real ambiance. I'm really glad I visited!Keep up the excellent work!!

Helped a friend out moving some antique (aka HEAVY) furniture last weekend and had hoped to do the brewery tour, alas we ran out of time. We were still very thirsty from our hard work so we dropped by Beau's to pick up a selection of their beautiful brews. I will be back to do the tour in the near future!

I went here with a temporarily transplanted fellow American to get away from the bad bland beer that bars and restaurants in Ottawa had to offer. The ride was about an hour from central Ottawa, through beautiful farmland in the province. The experience was comparable to visits I've made to micro/craft breweries in the US. We were the only visitors at that moment so we were treated to a detailed tour and given a good number of samples of their interesting and unique brews. The hosts were enthusiastic and generally knowledgeable. They heavily emphasized the organic nature of their brews and process, which was interesting to hear about. They do a few gruits, which are technically not beers since they have no hops, using bog myrtle and other adjuncts to impart the bitterness. A few things that we found bothersome: 1) the paucity of beers available to sample both on tap and from bottles; 2) the fact that so many beers were emphasized and on display but not available for purchase; 3) the fact that they will only sell you a four-pack of their flagship beer in the big bottles, that just doesn't make economic sense. What was nice was that they had a good selection of glasses if you collect such things as I do, and some nice T-shirts as well.I definitely recommend a trip for beer enthusiasts when you're in the Ottawa or lower Quebec areas.

I was a non beer drinker until../ Beaus brewery is a local success story that makes outstanding beer. The tour is informative and allows you to enter into the world of micro brewery. It is not a huge establishment and so people will take the time to educate you. They will also teach you about food pairing and often have events in the local community restaurants that have food and beer pairing. The website is fantastic, staff helpful and the beer (I like the special beers ) is wonderful. So to all you wine drinkers (like me)..Beer is a LOT more than Molsons or Coors Light!
