Waupoos Estates Winery sits majestically on a gently sloping hillside...

A tourist trap of a winery. Staff that know nothing about wine. I suppose the low prices and location attract the masses and the buses, but the wine is horrible.

My wife and I visited this winery in November. The location is charming, but the wines are mediocre.

Beautiful to walk around the grounds and eat at the Gazebo restaurant. The exterior of the tasting area is very charming. Lots of interesting items to purchase in the tasting area. Quite a few wines inside compared to many other wineries and is the oldest in PEC being on its 15th vintage. (which reminds one just how young this area is compared to NOTL and other areas)There is a lot of apple taste in the wines as this was once an apple Orchard, so for example the Pinot Gris will taste more of apple/pear/melon then of mineral. I found many of the whites just a bit too fruity/sweet for my liking, but trust your own palate. There were many red blends (most of the grapes coming from NOTL) I found them to be good but not great. Worth travelling to for the scenery as from here you can also drive easily to Lake on the Mountain lookout/provincial park

My hubby and I decided to celebrate our anniversary by spending a day in Prince Edward County visiting the region's wineries. Our first stop was Waupoos Estates Winery, which alone is worth the drive to Prince Edward County. The winery is situated on a gorgeous estate. The Gazebo restaurant is located between the main building and the lake, surrounded by vineyards. There is an outdoor patio onsite as well, which is available to dine on during the summer weekends. The restaurant is available for lunch and dinner as well as brunch on Sunday. Our lunch was incredibly delicious. This huge estate has beautiful scenery and lake backdrop which is perfect for weddings. There were a couple of Muskoka chairs available for sitting on the dock, watching the world (and boats) go by.A new feature at the winery is the petting zoo across the street. For 25 cents you can feed the chickens, ducks, pigs, goats and lambs. The rabbits on the property were so chilled under a vineyard that we almost didn't see them. This is a wonderful place to spend some romantic time with your special someone and I highly recommend it.

My husand & I spent the night at the Waupoos Estates Winery along with 8 of our friends on Sept. 27th, 2014. The house was beautiful, very clean & cozey. Nice view looking out at the winery & lake while sitting on the porch sipping our wines which we purchased from the winey's store. Very peaceful & calming. I also liked having the store on the premises, with all the delicious snacks & goodies. We had dinner in the Gazebo restaurant & the food was very good. The wine we had at dinner was called Red Rabbit, we liked it so much that we purchased a few bottles to bring home with us. The staff was knowledgeable & friendly. We went on the wine tasting tour which we found to be very informative. I like that it is child friendly with a Petting Zoo on the premises. We drove from Woodbridge, Ontario. It was worth the drive to Picton. I would definitely return & recommend Waupoos to our family & friends.

Waupoos Estates Winery is hard to find. We attended a wedding there and if it wasn't for a friend standing at the end of the driveway, we would have driven right past it. There was lots of signage, just none of it was facing the road. Having said that, they have an outstanding beautiful setting. The wedding took place on their dock, which was very pretty with the Bay of Quinte in the background. The reception took place in a large tent covering a concrete pad. The meal was very tasty and, for a hundred guests, it came out reasonably timely and hot. The wine/gift shop is very well done, the onsite restaurant looks like a large glassed-in gazebo, and across the road there is a petting zoo with wild bunnies hopping everywhere, and a snack shop. I would make the 45 minute drive from Belleville only if it was a glorious day, or you had a wedding to attend there.

Having grown up in Montreal and having lived in Europe, I know I am pretty hard to please. But when a restaurant in a vineyard advertises their food as "gourmet," my expectations are somewhat raised. We had the reserve chardonnay with lunch, and it was fine. My husband had the beef burger and I had the fish of the day, which was a very nice filet with a lemon sauce. However, the burger was average, and for a place that grows their own herbs, I expected some sort of flavor to the rice and vegetables (one carrot, and one small piece of cauliflower and broccoli) that accompanied my salmon...there was nothing at all. We opted for the pecan tart (minuscule) and peach tart (absolutely no sweetness to it all all - in fact, bitter). They were preparing for a wedding (tent and chair set up) and perhaps that was where their focus was. But for $85 for lunch, and advertised as gourmet... not impressed.

I was not impressed by the wines I tasted at this winery and was even less impressed by its over commercialized atmosphere.

This winery produces one of the best wine ever : Baco noir. You can taste all of their wines. The shop is beautiful with lots of choice of bottles and kitchen and drinking gadgets. The restaurant offers a spectacular menu. A must see.

This is one of the larger small wineries in the Picton area. They have a nice building where you can taste and buy their wines as well as a selection of chocolate and candy. There is an on site restaurant that has an upscale menu. The grounds are quite pretty and you can walk down to the lake. Across the street there is a petting zoo which was a hit with our son - sheep, goats, pigs, ducks, chickens and rabbits. There is also a store that sells jams and cider plus other farm related products.
