Had an amazing camp site right in front of Lake Superior with our own little blueberry patch. Could not ask for better. We had an amazing sunset and Lake Superior was calm and majestic.

The park was outstanding especially with the fall colors that was still abundantly on display (even though a lot of leaves had fallen). The trails were great, though note that the moderately difficult trails still involved a lot of climbing up and down and searching for footholds. For beginners, I would suggest doing the Sand River and the Trapper's trails and spending some time at the Old Woman Bay and Kathleen Code. Orphan lake trail ahd some majestic lookouts, though it took us 4 hours and a lot of clambering up and down rocky sections. Note that this trail is a little easier if you take the path on the right at the fork and do the loop counter-clockwise.

The colors and vistas were beautiful in October. The Visitor Center is very nice, with an interesting museum in back, and lake access. The staff is extremely helpful. We really enjoyed the Sand River trail with gorgeous waterfalls.

Nice place to visit and get acquainted with the area, local people and to be able to make informed decisions about which trails to walk, falls to see and how many steps are part of the trails.

We stayed for one night only! and the reason why we didn´t put an "Excellent", is because of the camping next to the highway. This park is huge and so beautiful, but it´s hard to enjoy all that nature in the morning and evening (when you are at your campsite), when you have all the cars and trucks (90 km/h allowed- mostly they drive faster) just on the other side of the trees passing. Apart from that- the nature, the beaches and the scenery are just worth it visiting anyways! Unfortunately we had to put an "Average", as we´ve been to so many other parks with camping across Canada, that were way more worth the "Excellent".

We loved our site, directly on the beach. Sites are first come, first serve so perhaps arrive early if you are visiting in peak season. Felt a little expensive compared to other parks we've visited, but that won't stop us from coming back.

We ended up picking Orphan Lake trail as one of our stops in the park. We weren't disappointed. The parking area is directly off the highway. The trail is about 8 Kim's. There is a little bit of everything; ups and downs, rough terrain, shady trees and at one point the trail peaks out along the coastal trail and you're on Lake Superior. There are a few beautiful lookouts that will take your breathe away. The trail is decently marked except along the coast, just follow the sign and keep walking until you meet the Baldhead River, the trail entrance is practically right at the mouth of the river, at this point you'll climb uphill and see and hear the rush of the waterfalls until the trail leads you to a little spot where the river is nothing but a trickle, this is where you cross. There were log ends to use as foot prints when I was there and it was an easy crossing just a little muddy.

If you love nature then you will love this park. Set on the shores of magnificent Lake Superior it provides great beach areas and great views from the rugged shoreline and surrounding Canadian Shield hills

The park hugs the Lake Superior Coastline and offers amazing picnic stops and breath taking views. Stop often to see waterfalls and amazing lake views.

We stayed at Agawa Bay Campground for three nights. We lucked out and the weather was fabulous. The beach was exactly what we wanted - not sandy like we have at home on SW Lake Michigan, but rocky - certainly swimable with the help of aqua socks. The water becomes deep quickly and my four children (7 - 12) loved running and diving into the deep water. We also did a lot of rock hunting. Around the northern edge, where the beach ends, the rock begins - we canoed here and loved diving in the water from the rocks.A bit further down the road we visited the pictograph site. It was a beautiful hike to the water; where, on a 55F degree day, we dove in....brrrrrrrrrrrr. Just a bit north of the pictographs is the Sand River Falls. A wonderful hike and a great place to "ride a water fall".South of Agawa we fished Crescent Lake. In retrospect, I would have preferred to camp this campground as it was much more peaceful. The constant truck noise from the highway at Agawa Bay was disappointing - often loud enough to cause conversation pause. The truck traffic is the only reason I do not give the park 5 stars.Make sure to gas up when you have the opportunity!!
