Group of 4 of us went to Highlands Wilderness tours as a part of a multi sport adventure weekend thru Call of the Wild. We all had an amazing time. We each got our own sled. It was only our group that was part of the tour. The owners absolutely adore their dogs. The dogs are well treated and respected. They love running. As soon as the harnesses go on they are ready to rock! We all participated in getting the dogs ready. The trails were scenic. Driving the sled was actually much easier than we imagined. We would have loved to have sledded all day! I would highly recommend Highlands Wilderness Tours.

We just did the dog sledding, but oh my was it amazing. You each get a sled with 4 dogs, who you help to harness to the sled and then you rocket off into the woods. It's so much fun, and the dogs clearly love what they're doing.Having your own sled isn't as easy as you may think as you have to balance on the rails behind the sled - but I only fell off once and it wasn't a big deal to jump back on and keep on going as the dogs are so well trained. You do have to be fairly physically fit - it's an arm workout if nothing else! Before arriving I was slightly concerned about how the dogs would be treated, but there is clear affection between the dogs and all of the people there that my concerns were very quickly resolved. I would highly recommend Highland Wilderness, it was great fun and an amazing experience!

It was our first experience for both. We had the snow mobiling with Jeff, great time and Jeff made sure we had an entertaining and safe ride. On Sunday we did the dog sledding with Matt, it was fun, fast at places, beautiful peaceful views. We recommend doing both, and spend an overnight at a nearby b&b, listed under their website.

This was me and my husband's first time snowmobiling and we couldn't have gone with a better company. They had everything to make sure we were safe and comfortable - suits, clean balaclavas, helmets etc. Our guide was friendly and gave really good instructions. I wasn't sure if I would be good at driving but he made me feel really comfortable. I would recommend using a washroom before arriving since they only have an outhouse, but at least it was clean as far as outhouses go!I would definitely come back again and would recommend it to others.

Matt had time to take us out for fishing in between dog sledding and snowmobiling. Wow what fun. Matt knows all the good spots. Thanks MattJason.

Just want to say Matt and Penny are two extremely friendly people, very welcoming. Very informative as what the tour entailed and what was expected of us. We had a PERFECT day Weather wise as well as the best tour. We have never been in this area, beautiful scenery. A MUST to experience. Worth every penny. Thx Penny and Matt

This past weekend I went on a dog sledding adventure! It was absolutely AMAZING!!!!! The people were great and their animals are outstanding! It was clear that Matt and Penny take great care of all the animals on property! Their dogs specifically were well mannered and hard working! The way the staff looked out for each dog before / during and after the run was very impressive! I will absolutely be going back!!!

My former colleagues in France offered me this combo gift last year. As I arrived too late in Canada to do the activities, Penny graciously accepted that I did them this year. So my husband and I booked ours tours for mid-january this year. The day was really cold but we had a wonderful time ! We first did the 2-hour dogsledding tour with our guide Jessica and another couple. It was really nice to do this activity in a small group. Jessica was really friendly and took care that everyone enjoyed the activity. Each person had his own sled with four dogs to drive. The first part of the activity consisted in harnessing the dogs. It was a great way to meet the dogs. They were really friendly and excited to go running. We then did our tour in their beautiful trails. As we were back to the kennel Jessica proposed us to unharness the dogs.In the afternoon we did our 2-hour snowmobiling tour with Jeff and the same couple. My husband and I were together on the same snowmobile. The experience was really fun. The trails were expressly groomed for snowmobiles. Jeff was very friendly and paid close attention to us ensuring that we enjoyed this activity. It was a really nice day in their company. We highly recommend Highland Wilderness to everyone looking to discover these 2 great activities !

We have went dog sledding and snowmobiling and has a WONDERFUL time. The dog sledding and snowmobiling was about 2 hours long each which was plenty of time and fun. Looking forward to going again very soon.

My wife and I had been dogsledding with another outfit in the same general area in 2013 and we were eager to try it again for a longer duration. Wilderness Tours was very friendly and "down to earth", they took great care of their canine charges as evidenced by the dog's friendly disposition to visitors. It probably helped us understand the dog's needs for affection as we are dog owners for 30 years or so. Our sledding team leader was Jessica and was most helpful, allowing us to harness the dogs we would be using for our team by ourselves, with her guidance, of course. It was a blast. The tour operator owns about 150 acres of bush throughout which are the sled runs that we used. It was mature bushlot with some clearings and a steeper hill if you wanted to try it out (I didn't). No problem. She never pushed you beyond your comfort level and was always attentive as to whether the team was too fast or too slow, switching the dogs to better tailor their performance to your comfort level. It was a glorious 2 hours or so, with a bright blue sky and -25C -> -20C temperature but never felt it because of the sunshine. When we were done, Jessica even let us help with the unharnessing of the teams and leading them back to their dog houses.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS OPERATOR, PENNY NICOL, AND HER HUSBAND, MATT, AND ESPECIALLY THEIR HIRED HAND, JESSICA FOR YOUR DOGSLEDDING ADVENTURE. We overnighted at the Adventure lodge, which is owned by Couples Resort. The chef, Ken, and his wife, were outstanding hosts and prepared simple meals which were as tasty as what we've had at the Couples Resort, (and we didn't have to dress up) at a very reasonable price.
