Had a nice game despite bouts of rain. We decided to eat here after the game as it was late and we were hungry. They had an excellent buffet. Turns out it was their last hurray before closing up for the season. All four of us enjoyed the food. The service was very good and everyone were on happy pills.

My wife and I played Lora Bay as part of a long weekend trip to the Collingwood area. The staff at the bag drop and the pro shop were friendly and helpful. There is a good practice area to warm up with. The front and back nine are fairly different. The front nine is more links style with fescue and fair bit of water. McBroom can get a bit carried away with bunkers but even for a mid-handicapper (me), there are interesting choices to be made with tee shots and approaches to the greens. The first few holes around the pond do have a lot of Canada Goose crap (mentioned in another review) on the fairways but what can they do? These things are ubiquitous and numerous and there is no legal way to control their numbers. They did a good job of keeping the greens clear and this was only two holes anyway. The back nine had a lot of great holes with views of Georgian Bay and cool layouts. Overall, this was a very enjoyable round and worth a special trip to the area for a golfer (along with Cobble Beach). The restaurant had a good lunch with a nice deck after. Only small grumble was that nearly all the bunkers had not been raked in a long time and therefore were very crusty and hard. It would take a lot of manpower to keep all these bunkers raked and I suspect the course can just not afford to do this.

Spectacular views. Challenging course. Helpful staff. We always look forward to receiving special price offers from underpar.com.

Until recently dining experiences at Lora Bay were quite pleasant and reasonably priced with great service. However Lora Bay has recently contracted a new provider for their bar and dining area. This in my mind has resulted in higher prices, less selection on the menu, and a much lower degree of service. Dined there recently and they seemed very short staffed, Pre-set glasses on the table were dirty, water glasses were never refilled, and had to ask for obvious condiments (horse radish for prime rib). A gentleman at another table asked for a Canadian (beer) and a can of beer was plonked down on his table. This is not what I had previously experienced dining there over the last few years.Don't waste your time or money here. There are better restaurants in nearby Thornbury with similiar prices and menus and with far better service. I won't be back!

Loved the round. Tee decks for every player. Scenic and in excellent condition despite the horrific winter we've had in Ontario.

Let's deal with the positives first. The course design is interesting enough, challenging, but not stupidly difficult. Only 3 or 4 holes offer a view of Georgian Bay, a disappointment. The clubhouse is very attractive, but not ostentatious. Staff were very friendly. Now the negatives: Course condition left a lot to be desired, and it was a good thing that we paid only $67 each instead of the usual $150, or so. Fairways were VERY dry -- ironic, since the property is right beside a lake. There was goose dung everywhere on many of the holes, and the sand in the sand traps was crusty and hard. Personally, I think there are just too many sandtraps (a McBroom specialty). And, finally, how this course can be ranked in the top 100 in Ontario, much less in Canada, is beyond my comprehension.

This is a big course with a few stunning holes and the houses do not crowd the course. The pace of play can be slow.Make time to eat on the lovely outdoor patio with one of the best views around.Worth a visit

While formerly only a ski destination, the Blue Mountains offers a premier golf experience. I recommend spending a week hitting the Scottish Links course at Cobble Stone, just north of Owen Sound and the equally beautiful standard courses at Lora Bay and the Georgian Bay club which are located on each side of Thornbury. The latter two courses are amongst the best in Ontario and have hosted Pro-Am tournaments and the Gretzy golf Classic. If you tire of these courses there are at least 4 other courses within a half hour drive from your base at the Village at Blue. The food experience is memorable at Cobble Stone and Lora Bay. The Village at Blue has a number of restaurants to suit every taste. You can take a break from golfing and visit Coffin Ridge Winery whose wines have won several awards.

Big greens, tough to read. Course is in great shape. Too many bunkers so stay out! Nice staff. Practice range and putting area are a bonus

I love the Club at Lora Bay. I've had the privilege of playing it once each year for the past 3 years and it is a joy. Great design, beautiful conditioning...lots of fun
