We visited here twice in 2014. PAMA has really stepped up it’s advertisement and it has become more visible overall. While small there were interesting parts for each of us and interactive displays that the children could take part in. They enjoyed the jail and there were a lot of interesting things to learn. It is clear that the staff were passionate about the building and the history and art that it contained. I think that we would go again to see if anything was new. We went at times where admission was free due to special events - otherwise prices are generally $4.50 for adults ($3.50 for kids), $10 for a family or $60 for family membership. There are weekly Knit groups and make & take type sessions for the kids. Check out the website to see the calendars.

We had seen an advert in the paper about the exhibit "The face of Farmers" being held at the PAMA. As my partner used to live on a farm, he was peaked about the idea of going to see it and what farming was like in Brampton. While there, we were told about the World War 1 exhibition and that we could also visit the Permanent exhibits as well (First Nations, Peel Story, Space Arm made in Brampton)We were left feeling disappointed as this exhibit was already there before PAMA was created! Moreover there wasn't much on display - only added the history of each prominent farmers in the Peel Region.I guess we were expecting something a little more elaborate. The First Nation's "We are here" exhibit was really done however with its explanations of different tribes, words and way of living. The "Peel Story" was really interesting (demographic and landscape of Peel over the years). It's kind of worrisome to see just how little "green space" Brampton has left though.I found the World War 1 exhibit "We remember" so small in comparison to the other exhibits! A few memorabilia, letters from a soldier or two, and a few pictures. Maybe the Region of Peel doesn't have much memorabilia, history or accounts on WW1 in their possession? The PAMA has the potential to do more for exhibitions. Why don't they expand on 2 subjects rather than having several small ones?I find it a shame too that they didn't capitalize more on the Old Brampton Jail. There was potential to be able to have tours and explanations/history on the building.

I visited here to do some genealogical research on my ancestors who lived in the area in the 1800s. A valuable resource for serious researchers.

We visited PAMA today for the opening of the new exhibit Spirit Seeds a celebration of First Nations beadwork. A beautiful exhibit in a cozy venue. The guest curator provided a fascinating overview of each display. While there we took the time to visit the new exhibit for the Region of Peel's 40th anniversary, again an interesting and informative display. The building which houses the museum and gallery is historic itself and nicely maintained with many exhibits that would interest young and old. Well worth a visit.

We visited PAMA after a very long hiatus (probably 15 years since our last visit). We visited on the Monday of Family Day in February so the place was packed with families and many activities geared for children. We enjoyed the archives which we toured with archivist Kyle who was very knowledgeable about the history of Brampton and Region of Peel. We also visited the Museum section and the Art Gallery. Each was intriguing with its respective displays on view. We found the exhibit of the old jail with all its paraphernalia rather sobering (all the while very educational). This is definitely a great place to bring your kids for some fun time whilst learning about the past.

Love the venue, it is small, intimate and the historic architecture of the building has been maintained. New additions are beautiful.

This is a very interesting show well worth the visit. It makes you understand that there are many strong stories behind the tattoos we may just see as fashion statements.

PAMA is relatively new and as such is growing. The staff and volunteers have been putting together some very good programs and presentations,. Upcoming is a display of tattoo photos and their stories. The historic display area of Peel region is very interesting. This is not the Royal Ontario Museum but it's worth a look.

For decades Brampton and the Region of Peel and a large group of volunteers have worked to provide a top notch facility for people to learn about art, artefacts and the history. PAMA is unmatched in Ontario for its local history collection and the depth of its local art collection. NOT to be missed by visitors and residents of Brampton.

The gallery has a fascinating collection of art and I didn't get to see it all as part of it was closed when I went. The portion incorporating the old gaol is also very interesting and educational. A good way to spend an hour or two and very inexpensive admission.
